Southern Indiana Is Bearable Again

Recommended Posts

Let's be honest, this has been a difficult basketball season for Hoosiers everywhere but especially those of us down here in Southern Indiana because we have had to listen to all the UK  (and UL) crud all year. But there has finally been a break in the storm clouds.  UK is no longer unbeaten and we don't have to listen to any more of that perfect season talk and IU finally has the BIG it was missing all year in Thomas Bryant.  Heck, I was so happy after UK's loss on Saturday that on Easter Sunday I took Wisconsin Cheese to church for all the Wildcat fans that drive over to my church in Indiana from Kentucky!  They didn't think it was funny but I sure enjoyed it!  Even better, my friends who are UL and UK fans actually admit that we may be just as good as they are next year with the Bryant commitment. Some balance is restored and Southern Indiana is bearable again!  So, admit it Hoosier fans, don't you feel a little bit better about things right this moment? I would like to hear your stories of which annoying fanbases you have to put up with and how any of you in Southern Indiana put it to the Cat fans after their loss to Wiscy.  Go Hoosiers!

Sounds like Southern Indiana has recovered from the mutual apocalypses of IU/UK/UL's seasons. Meanwhile, in the wasteland of Southern, KY, there are no signs of intelligent life- Balance has been restored. In reality, the local fans haven't stopped complaining (I've even heard them questioning if Cal is the man/snake for the job) and the "fans" (the overwhelming contingent in the Army who identify as Alabama Football/Kentucky Basketball/Miami Heat*/Whoever Drake is a fan of) of Kentucky keep claiming they were actually cheering for Duke the whole time and that Frank the Tank is garbage. It's an impressive level of butt-hurt all around.

That being said, all quite on the Southern front. They've remembered that basketball is just a false prophet, distracting them from their true God- SEC football. To hell with these herectics.

I'm from the northern most part of Indiana. I always get to hear about how great Michigan State is. At least this year early on they were struggling, however they owned us the first time we played.

Literally half my family are BBN in Kentucky. The side that didnt raise me and I only seen on holidays and at funerals. The constant barrage of 40-0 texts have been unbearable this year. That came to a screeching halt Saturday night. I mean complete silence. I let it go Easter Sunday but then had to make some calls Monday. They are feeling this one hard. Right there with Laettner beating them in 92 kind of pain. They thought 40-0 was a done deal, lol. I enjoy it while I can.

I'm out in Virginia so I got to watch and enjoy the UVA and VCU flame outs and media over reactions. Tom IZZO doesn't have many fans down here for what he did to Virginia :)

People were expecting more out of VCU? Smart had one tourney run and a lot of early exits. Then they lost their best player

Here in east central Indiana we have a mixed bag of IU, Purdue, and Kentucky fans. I have to say I was glad to hear silence as far as the Kentucky fans are concerned after the loss Saturday night. My whole entire family lives in Kentucky and Tennessee and I had to give them a hard time for sure after the loss. I'm just glad I don't have to see Big Blue Nation and go cats all over Facebook and the like now lol.

Rebel...thank you, thank you, thank you for posting topics that are enjoyable to contribute to.

There are so many positives revolving around IU basketball that it now makes wish for a quick turnaround to November already.

We will be back as a team and a nation again!

I've read this somewhere but I've experienced it plenty of times to believe in it.  It's a phenomenon called "UK dumb".  You can know the brightest person but once they start talking UK basketball, their IQ drops about 50 points and all ability to reason disappears.  It was in full force throughout the season and really in high gear this past weekend after UK's loss.  A former boss I had was this way.  A really sharp guy, but get him talking UK and THUD, his IQ hits the floor.

I'm in Evansville and this year was absolutely brutal.   I've discussed this many times on other boards but many IU fans have no idea how irrelevant Purdue is when it comes to our Rivals. Down here There is hate for one team, one state, one direction, its for Kentucky.    It's literally the most I've celebrated a tourney win, not IU related ever.
