Tom Crean Update from Fred Glass

Recommended Posts

This probably doesn't mean much since I live in DC and am one of the poor $100 donors, but IUBB will not be receiving another cent from me until Crean is gone.

Likewise. I have put away my checkbook when it comes to IU athletics. Not a huge donor, but they always say it's the small donations that make the difference.

Also note the time of this press release.

5:00pm on a Friday. The EXACT time you want to bury news.

Can you elaborate? You mean he wanted to get this statement out now so it won't be a huge deal, or he put it out now because there is something to bury?

If 1,000 people share your view..

It's $100,000. It all adds up.

They got us by the balls. I give $500 a year to get more points on my priority seating. Guess I will be stuck in the nose bleeds until we get a good enough coach for me to put down $1000.

It's like voting. Donations may vary by the individual, but we each have an equal ass to put in the seats.

However, I do think that this may be partly reflective on who the replacement candidates are right now. Miller isn't leaving, Stevens is most likely staying at least one more year. Best case scenario, Tom Crean just became Indiana's interim coach.

That's exactly how I read into it

The line that meant something to me, "... based on the team he is assembling and the team he has assembled... I support Crean."

This better mean we're getting Bryant or Thon, and that Yogi and Troy are staying. I can accept that Crean is here one more year if it means getting to watch the same core lineup return with a solid big man. If that isn't happening, Crean should go now.

Every PR firm in the country would tell you if you need to put out a press release that people won't like, don't send it until 5:00pm on a Friday. A lot of people won't see it, many others won't be as focused because it's Friday night.

Got ya. That's what I figured. I probably should be learning that in my PR class.

We don't learn anything in that class and there's no way that he would teach us this because then we would know that they are trying to cover it up.

Lol he almost can't teach that class because if we learn all his tricks, bam...we know exactly what every press release means. I've learned absolutey zero in there.

"Coach Crean has five years on his contract," Glass said. "I don't expect him to go anywhere, and I don't want him to go anywhere."

I never heard he'd be fired...so this statement is a bit of a glimmer of hope for those wanting Crean out.

But I've been honest with everyone who has PM'd me lately in that I haven't heard anything for awhile. That could mean a number of different things but I'm beginning to believe Crean will be back. 41 may very well be more informed here, though.

In all honesty, this doesn't change much. I still do not think Crean will be the coach at Indiana next year...

Me neither. This is AD speak, I feel Crean wants out, no sources, just a feeling. Oh, wait...may have been the burrito I had for breakfast.
