Stan Robinson transferring

Recommended Posts

When we first signed Stan, I thought he was going to be a player that surprised us. Turned out I was right. His freshman year he was surprisingly adept at getting to the basket. His sophomore year he was surprisingly worse than the year before. Hope he finds a new program that better suits him. Good luck, Stan!

He also tweeted he was staying though he took that down later.

One of the reporters asked him about Troy and Yogi returning and he said I hope they do but I am coming back.

It was just an example of a kid saying what he's supposed to say in the moment, but not actually meaning it. Could be same exact thing with Glass giving Crean a vote of confidence and then possibly turning around and firing him (even though that's looking more and more unlikely).

I just don't think we should harp on Stan for saying that and then transferring. It's the world of college basketball today, and that's that.

Troy and Yogi have to make their decision within the next few weeks, so I'm sure we will hear soon.

What about Jurkin?

And you know better than the rest of us regarding this? No coach would keep players who cannot contribute out of pride. That's just silly.

ok. I know what I know concerning Crean and "white noise".

End of the bench guys can be morale boosters or GPA boosters or not complain about PT. There is value in this.

Edit-as far as Jurkin, he wasn't going to see the court.

Interesting perspective re: GPA boosters. Even if they never see the court on game day, they help the program by upping the APR. Never considered that, but it makes a lot of sense.

Of course he's leaving. Yogi, JBJ and RoJo all return as guards, and Troy serves in that role sometimes (and probably will do more of that with two forwards in next year's recruiting class). Plus we have three guards "considering" IU on top of that (or so says ESPN)

I predict Priller will be next, and, like Austin Etherington, he's just over his head in the Big Ten and needs to go to a smaller school, maybe Missouri Valley or MAC. April will probably go as well since it's obvious Crean doesn't think much of his work ethic. It would not surprise me to see Devin either transfer or decide to retire or at least sit out a year to facilitate his recovery.

Yeah...I know a kid who got on a B1G football team that had no business being on a B1G football field (good HS player though), but had amazing grades. It's a plus if that player can contribute on the floor/field ala Zeisloft though.

Thing is, they also need to be able to contribute on the court as scholarship players. People like Jeff Howard and the rest of the walk-ons should help boost GPAs, intensity in practice, and support during the game. Scholarship players need to maintain GPAs that will keep them eligible and on track to graduate while contributing during the game.

Hyron Edwards is the only one of the three guards we've extended an offer to, according to ESPN (and I'm sure all of you have pored over all the pages so you know it already). Of course, it's Bryant who's still out there who is the prize...but everybody else wants him too.

They can, they just have to pay their own way.

And receive permission I believe.

Side Note: A friend of mine had a bunch of classes with Jurkin and always told me he was the nicest guy and incredibly smart. Relevent? No. Just enjoy saying he was a good guy.

I thought I heard that the NCAA not too long ago said that players wouldn't be immediately eligible to play if they applied for a hardship wavier for the 2015-16 season.

That is correct. Stan will have to sit out a year.
