If he cared about teaching defense then why are we so bad at it. The only other explanation is that all the players are physically incapable of playing defense. I have a hard time believing that Indiana doesn't have or can get the athletes to play good defense.

Defense is not about ability. Like reboundng, it's about want too. Plain and simple. And you can't make players care if hey don't want to. They aren't getting benched. Laps, whatever. They Are there for pt. And like I said Priller and April ain't playing.

That's my point exactly. Defense is about effort. When I player isn't giving effort you have to have some consequences. You are basically saying you are okay with they lack of effort on the defensive end. If he coached defense hard and pushed his players to do it they would. If they didn't the. They shouldn't be playing. If the players don't care then why are we recruiting them. You think coach k let's players be lazy on defense. Pitino? Roy Williams? Any other good coach? No. Players know that when they go to that school and play for that coach they have to do their best to play on both sides of the ball.

Not surprising they lost.  I think these players need to be held accountable.  Crean needs to preach fundamentals, rebounding and a lack of a presence down low has hurt them all season.  Emmitt Holt needs to get more playing time and a defensive specialist needs to be brought in.  To win, solid defense is a start.

My 3 keys to the game and we failed miserably. Stupid turnovers; Troy over dribbling then falling down I lost count. Yogi had a big one late too, but these timely turnovers cost us the game. Secondly, our continuing matador defense and no helpside d. This is the worst defense I have ever witnessed at Indiana. Our man to man showed improvement against Northwestern, and we used it up in one game. Crean decided not to pressure the ball which was also a key for me. We had them gassed early and could have put the throttle down. We also got homered big time as expected, and a timely technical early may have benefitted the team late as the stripes continually sent them to the line in the second half. It truly makes me laugh to think he told a ref after the game he sucks, when he could have said it to a lessor degree in the first half. This does make a difference yet he's never used a tech to help his teams getting shafted. The Shockers played like crap today and we should have won. There is no question in my mind about that and it's not even close. I hate it for our team and fans. We deserve much better. The season ends as a turd.

Take Vic and Jordan Hulls. One is a great defender at the NBA level, one was at best solid on the college level. But yeah ability has nothing to do with playing defense
