IUBB vs WSU Postgame :( Thread

Why was there such a free throw discrepancy?  What was that about?  Offensive strategy?  Homer refs?  We really did foul them that much more?

Part of the problem is because we play such shoddy defense and  don't know how to get in front of the opponent and use our hands instead of moving our feet on defense.

Repercussions? Like what? This place would crap a brick if he put say Priller in an ncaa tournament game to prove a point.

I completely agree with that. That's why all off season they should be working on that stuff. Then when they don't do it correctly in the offseason they maybe run extra. Or maybe he extends practice. Early in the year maybe you sub Troy out when he dribbles around all crazy. Or sit someone down when they get taken off the dribble multiple times. Or make a defensive adjustment to slow someone such as Van fleet down. I'm not saying he doesn't care if they lose. Every coach wants to win. I'm not saying he doesn't care about his players. Every coach cares about their players. I'm saying he doesn't care about the fundamental things that good basketball teams do to win games. You took that quote right from the middle of my post out of context to make me look bad. That was just weak. If you don't agree with what I'm saying that's fine but don't twist my words.

Im sick of this "meeting expectations" argument. Its not about meeting the media or the fans expectations. So what if we are predicted ninth and we get eighth in the conference. We met expectations of those two groups but we didnt live up to the standards expected expected of these players on or off the court. Forget expectations its about living up to standards and this regime hasnt shown the capacity to so it.

You said he didn't care. Hard to twist that.

I se a guy hollering and screaming. Constantly coaching. I see him get in a defensive stance. I find it hard to believe he doesn't care about teaching defense. I mean come on.

If he cared about teaching defense then why are we so bad at it. The only other explanation is that all the players are physically incapable of playing defense. I have a hard time believing that Indiana doesn't have or can get the athletes to play good defense.

Never had someone call my post "cute" before!

Vonleh and Fischer were NOT our best players last year.

Yogi was. Period.

Fischer, no. Vonleh, arguable.

Could you imagine this team with those 2? Two rim protectors? (Not to mention that if this was the "golden age" like so many here live in, Cody would probably still be here. People mostly stayed 4 years) This team would be top 10 easy. Noah was very good, and Fischer after 4 years would be pushing all B1G. But they left. Crean was stuck trying to coach a team he wasn't prepared to coach. Sure, we thought that Noah was gone, but not Luke.

So its either on the coach or the GM.

Disappointed?  Of course.  Surprised?  Not in the least.  This team all too frequently this season demonstrated its weaknesses, i.e.., poor defense; over reliance on the 3 point shot; lack of strong presence in the middle....   Yes, we made the NCAA tournament.  Whoopee!   One and done.  Yippee ki yi ya!    Although this year's record was slightly better, the product on the court was minimally better.  Will we have a better product next year?  I have no idea but sometime within the next 5 days we may have a clearer picture.  Typically coaching announcements and player transfer announcements come very shortly after the final game of the season.  Stay tuned to this channel for further breaking news.
