Indiana vs Northwestern Post Game Thread

Emmitt Holt was excellent. And not just because Dakich said so.

Need to keep in mind, he didn't join the team til late August; he started out surpisingly well, but now he is truly becoming comfortable.

And next year, he will be comfortable and ten pounds stronger.

Can you imagine him as a 4 next season?  He needs to work on his mobility to defend the stretch 4s in the B1G though.

He played an excellent game and was making some moves on the inside.  He has high basketball IQ and always seems to be around the ball.

I'd like to add some meaningful discussion to this thread...

That might have been the best game Jimmy has played this year (25 pts 6 rebs 7 helpers). If he decides to break out of his freshman slump and/or go ahead and peak while he's at it, I like our outlook for these next few weeks.

I think he also broke 500 points on the year tonight.

Just really happy to see the team play defense. No this is not a fantastic win but they went out and took control again. Perea, wow, tough break because the dude is playing with confidence and flashing some post moves. I saw a few guards look for him which is promising and shows their growing confidence in their teammate. Prayers for Perea tonight!

Johnsons shot isn't broke!!

Jbj played awesome! I stead of throwing up garbage, he was looking for the open man on droves when the defense collapsed.

Are we seeing Cream learn he needs to give players rest down the stretch?

I agree, too many starters playing in a minor blow out. Get Max, Zach and Holt more time. We need Jimmy buckets and yogis legs here in the next few days

I like Holt. Thank goodness he has those long arms, because earlier in the year I saw him standing next to Hanner and he is shorter. Would like to see him get some time at the 4 also and not have to play the 5. He has played well for a late unranked addition to the team.

Forget that. He had to deal with reality before his basketball season even started. To rebound from that and even focus on basketball is an accomplishment in and of itself.

Great team win. It had been a chaotic couple of weeks but I'm glad the players showed up to play today. We need that same effort tomorrow! We have all been very critical of the players and the coaches, but at the end of the day we are still IUBB fans and need to show support.
Sad to see Hanner go down, might be the last time we see him this season. Was really happy with the way Holt played though; he will be great for us in the future.
Time to get ready for the terps!

I don't know if I see him as a 4 next season. He still lacks any sort of offensive game outside of put backs. I think he does well down low, especially if he adds some weight and a few inches.

He's a college 4 but not in this system.  If he can increase his foot speed and lateral quickness to defend 4s he can punish them in the paint on the offensive end.  I would love to see some 3 out 2, Kansas high-low with Holt at the 4.

I really enjoyed seeing these kids play hard and with an effort. That was nice to see! So much easier to watch when they play hard like tonite. Now I'm looking forward to the Maryland game!!! Do we start Emmitt? I know I'm the furthest thing away from a college bball coach but I think I'd give him the nod. As Dakich mentioned several times, the kid is always moving and with his hands up ready to catch the ball. He also does his work on positioning before the shot goes up to prepare for the rebound. The experience would be invaluable for his development! Seems to have a really high bball IQ as well. All assuming HMP doesn't make it back, hope he can!

Would also like to say that I was impressed with JBJs effort on defense tonight. First time I have said that all season. Great overall game kid. For the players, hope they can start building some momentum/confidence for Maryland tomrw. Should be very confident going into that game!

Since most here has mentioned the effort tonight. For me this season would be a lot easier to swallow, if they had played this hard all season. Anyone else agree here?

I'm impressed that you somehow twisted what was a great win into "our program sucks :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( ". Rotfsmh

I surprised it took one of the over the top negative posters that many posts to say something negative
