I am only talking about coaching on the court during the 40 minutes a game and the practices that lead up to execution during the game.

Sampson was a train wreck outside the lines, but between them the guy could flat coach. From an X's and O's standpoint he is a better coach.

Davis had better results during his 6 years than Crean has had in the 4 since the rebuild. I give him the edge but I think Crean could pass once he gets a fresh start.

Dakich should not be on the list.

The situation caused for it. The culture is not what I wanted. It wasn't just the texts. It was the grades. Failed drug tests. The kids for the most part brought in were not good kids. I am not a win at costs person. They still represent the university. In game coaching is the only area Sampson is better than Crean. Crean's drug tests and issues don't come close.

I don't think Dakich should be counted as he only coached a couple games after the train wreck.He started the house cleaning before CTC got there.I admire him for that.

Who knows what he could've done with this roster and a clean slate?I know he played and coached under a defensive minded coach so I would have to believe that aspect would be much improved.

I'll go out on a limb and say I know it would.

Dakich last by a long shot. He never made it past Bowling Green, although he had some good years with them.
1. Sampson easily the best coach.
2. Mike Davis. He knew how to get out of the way at least.
3. Crean, Everything but coach. Just sorry between the lines...
4. DD. Stick to radio. Had his chance just like Davis; thought he was the man and still does. Not at IU.

His offense was only better than Crean's because of EJ and DJ. Nothing else. If we had an EJ type player, everything would be the same.
