Potential fallout from coaching change

Recommended Posts

"Our offense looks like Shriners riding their little cars in the parade."

LOL. That hurts.

lolol..awesome. it's definitely beyond predictable. I mean, we are a prolific 3 point shooting team and we pass up 3's all the team so we can await a terrible screen and drove lateral with a 3 man weave.

Reading Glass' comments I am more convinced than ever that both him and his legendary contract for mediocrity coach need to go. Wehave the most unprofessional AD short of the one just fired at Mich. After his razor comment all that's left is threatening a fan via twitter. A true professional says the coach will be evaluated after the season and leave it at that. He certainly wouldn't be breaking down plays and players like Glass does at every turn then stating the exact opposite of reality that Crean is doing a great job. Glass is an attorney by trade. My question is he Crean's agent? You really couldn't make this stuff up. He needs to go before Crean or he will sabatoge the hire out of spite from his legendary failings. Speaking of razors, it's time for Glass to fall on his sword for the glory of ole IU.

I hope you're right, bro. But my gut tells me we have another year with this stuff. If we're half full 4 minute before tip in what was arguably the biggest game of the year, imagine next year...

What is Indiana's claim to fame? Basketball. What if the basketball team is stinking it up in embarrassing fashion, and you're no longer looked at as a basketball school? I don't care if you're an Australian president, or a new administrator to the school, you are going to care, the donors and alumni will see to it that you care. Fred may defend Crean publicly, but ultimately the call to fire Crean may be out of Fred's hands if it comes to it.

He makes a fair, though unpopular, point. Back with Brand the school made some efforts to deemphasize basketball. Dakich pointed out earlier this year and again today that IU has was looking to do the same back when he was on the staff.

I hope that gets reversed but if true it would be very disappointing and would match up with his post

I'd have a "Crean Out" for Saturday's game if I was the students. Don't go to the game. Empty seats will speak louder than anything else. Want things to change? Force their hands.

There would be NOTHING that says INDIANA about that. Pull up your panties, go to assembly hall and support the team in a huge game. Anything less and you're part of the problem.

Let the season play out and go from there.

Would that be part of the problem or part of the solution? I guess we'll have to ask our athletic director that question.

Fwiw, 247 website has a thread up concerning Yogi again. MileIU from 247 substantiates the claim that "Yogi is part of the problem and not the solution". Saying most players on the team don't like him. Multiple personality conflicts etc... I really hope this isn't true. I like and want to root for Yogi. Seems to really fight and dig in. Anyhow, if these type rumors are true it could give legs to the Yogi off season rumors. Those in the know, care to add anything????

Or is this same ole same ole crap from past discussions?

Part of the problem.

If one's desire falls more in line with "Let's not show up so we can get Crean fired" rather than "lets show up and cheer our asses off and help this team beat MSU and get a spot in NCAA tournament." Then you may have the right answer, but at this point it's to the wrong question.

Fleek, I saw those 247 posts about Yogi, too, and wondered if there was any truth to them. I certainly hope not.

Yeah, I know Yogi and Will infamously had issues. Yogi is a confident kid and I like that. IMO, Will had an elevated sense of self. Recent MadAnt stint shows that. I fully understand that one. If Yogi and current players have a tiff, it's on the new guys because Yogi is busting his butt. Wish, the others played as hard. IDK. I have that crappy feeling again about our team. Just not playing hard. Giving up like last year.

I always thought Sheehey was the type of player you wanted on your team but hated to play against.  The only caveat to that is you have leadership to reel him in when he crosses the line.

I was at the game Tuesday and it was just the worse time I've ever had at Assembly Hall. I took a friend that just moved from Boston a couple months back, and he was excited to see what IU Basketball was about. Needless to say, he was not impressed at all (he did like KIlroy's though). His comments were: "It looks like a pick up game or like they just got this team together last week". He also mentioned that Crean's subbing patterns made no sense; he never allowed players to get into a rhythm. To be honest, I was embarrassed to have taken him to that game. We were also surrounded by older alumns and fans (We're both in our mid 20's) that kept complaining about the plays and the coaching; I for sure thought one of them was going to have a heart attack. I thank Crean for what he has done for the program, I was there in 08 and 09 when were horrible; but I was also there in 11 and 12 when every seat was filled by excited fans and players played with pride and as a team. Unfortunately that was Crean's peak and I just can't get behind him anymore. I won't throw out there any possible replacements until I hear that Crean has been fired; because I do believe (sadly) that he will be back next season.

I'm not saying keep of fire him but understand if he goes, it's 2008 all over again. JBJ, RJ, Yogi and Troy are gone. What, you honestly think they are playing for the name on the front of the jersey? Recruits that we have contacts with won't come. Oh yeah, and one more thing,

No one has ever given me a good reason why a guy would leave the BOSTON CELTICS, one of the premier franchises in all of American professional sports, to coach a 7th place team in the B1G who's fan base just ran off the coach that won them their first regular season title in 20 years less than 2 years ago.

Just saying, watch what you wish for.

good job on the reg season title 2 years ago. Now, as a program we should stay mediocre out of thankfulness for that great great. All hail Tommy boy, winner of the 2012-2013 B1G regular season. King Tom - VIVA LA VIDA!!!!
