Maybe if your writing wasn't so consistently terrible you wouldn't run into it so often.

I think students would just get tickets to then immediately sell them for a (probably large) profit to non-students in that scenario. We got our tickets for what, $380? I'm willing to bet there would be people out there that would happily buy those 12 tickets for $50+ apiece. It would defeat the purpose of student tickets completely. You might as well shrink the student section and make more public tickets available.

You finished my point for me. I was going to get to that. Not as many cherish going to the games. Lot of Tuesday and Thursday home games this year which has led to many students missing due to tests. I have missed two due to chemistry tests...

I see where TrueHoosier62 is coming from in his so-called essay. I don' agree with everything though and I feel that too much empahsis was placed on titles and the quality of the "product" , etc.   Hey, Cub fans are loyal regardless tho it would be nice to win.  True fans don't disscect that much and base everything just on the foregoing.

This is Indiana man!  Yes, we want wins, we want to kick Purdue square in the teeth tomorrow. We want the seats filled with fans of all kinds. The IU fan base is just not students alone.  Simply put, we get into it. Wins, titles, cost of tickets, even the coach are a few of the evaluating criteria I suppose.

Indiana fans pay Homage Au Hoosiers-Its the experience, the excitement of being there, its memories like RMK, Martha the Farm Bureau cleaning lady, its Don Fischer, the gift shop, it's an IU time out, the band, the IU public announcer and the senior lady usher:) let alone today's hi tech entertainment, and everyone can add more to this list.  Fans come out to see the hardest working kids in "college" basketball whether they are from Maryland, Florida, Fort Wayne or Indianapolis!

First, it's "their." Second, our student attendance problem started down this path close to a decade ago. I hate UK, but how are their fans different? They've had more success recently, and get 20k for Big Blue Madness.

I will make my point after all. I believe we packed the house every game two seasons ago. If we had a kentucky caliber team this season we would have fans in the seats every game I would bet. This is why I feel they are different fans than ours. I apologize in advance for any grammar issues.

Not only is the student section attendance down, the ones that are there do not seem to be active in cheering during the game. The Maryland game was the only one this year where the students have been rowdy and loud.

Think we're first in both? We're complaining about attendance and were first or second in conference...

It has us as 2nd on a per game basis behind Wisconsin and 1st in the total number of attendees. Regardless, yeah it kind of puts thing in perspective haha.

Big Ten stats link

Scroll down about halfway.

Anyone else notice how they calculate average attendance for the neutral games? Ours was reported at 6756/game, which seemed low to me given the three neutral site games we played.

Per the ESPN box scores, attendance for the Georgetown game was 8651, for Louisville it was 11,617 and attendance for the Butler game was not reported. So the calculation used the total of 20,268 spread over 3 games. The attendance for the Butler game wasn't reported, but I found a tweet from Bozich saying that Notre Dame reported attendance for the classic at 14,753. Add that in and our neutral average goes up to 11,673.

The more interesting question, to me, is why attendance was so low in MSG for the other two games.

When I bought my ticket, I purchased it through StubHub and it had no affiliation with Indiana so the numbers would not reflect that. How many tickets were offered through the university? The attendance for that game looked pretty good to me.

This reminds me of A Parking passes. When I was a senior, the going rate for A parking passes were $1800.

I was lucky enough to have one for myself and gave the other one to my buddy :3

I'm so glad I don't have to worry about parking. That seems like a nightmare.

My senior year I said screw it and parked where ever I wanted. Racked up about $350 in tickets, which I had no intention of paying....until I tried to get my transcripts released lol.

When I was a senior there was a little church by 11th & Indiana. I parked there and walked into campus even though my apartment was a 2 minute walk from a bus stop. Looking back, my decision making skills needed some work.

1st and 2nd in attendance in the B1G and we complain.

I love tradition, I love Assembly Hall, I love RMK, I love the old photos of my parents' friends in the Indiana satin jackets that are in their old photo albums. What I'm tired of is all the "back in my day" crap. This is 2015, whether we like it or not. Attendance is down across the board for a plethora of reasons. We can play the blame game on everyone from Crean to the one-and-done rule to technology. All I know is that I love Indiana basketball and I can't deal with this impossible-standard-coach-hating-why-haven't-we-won-a-banner-where-are-all-the-students talk. It gets old and doesn't help anything.

Sorry for all the complaining, but we should all be used to it by now...from everyone.
