IU v. Wisco Game Thread 2/3 7pm on ESPN

You know, he's really not that bright of a journalist. Also young, but his foot is often found in his mouth.

To me, it seems like he's trying to come off as funny, witty, and/or snarky, but his execution is generally very poor.

On Donavon, for someone who has been at a school for 15+ years, you'd think he could manage his roster better to not have all these down years. Right? Funny he's magically winning national titles when he has pros.

Crean has had pros and he's won NC...ahhh poop! He ain't won none so...oh well.

Down years? That's not even a close comparison!

My thought process is obviously not welcome here. I'll see myself out.

I don't mind your thought process. I do disagree with it some though. Lol I would ask. What standard do you think Creans teams perform to? What do you feel is the appropriate level of accomplishment?

I don't really understand the question. All I want is for IU to do it the right way, play an appealing brand of basketball, and be in position to make deep runs in the NCAA. Crean, to me, has proven he can do that. He can get us in position. Hard for me to ask for more than that. There are no numerical goals to hit. It's why I don't care about his coaching records. His teams have consistently exhibited the ability to play great attacking basketball and compete against anyone. Losing to lesser teams happens. It isn't a statement about the coach. Crean is the same coach today as he would've been had we won the title. There's no difference. Much of the talking points are arbitrary...

Indiana could do better than Crean. It could also do a lot worse. He was the right man at the right time. The program was gutted and it's now his. He has to continue to build on it and he's doing that. Doesn't always show up in the record.

I just think IU would really make a mistake to not go the distance, especially with no sure thing on the horizon.

You seem to like him. It doesn't seem you have much of a goal you want him to reach. In his coaching career there is nothing that leads me to believe that he will consistently make deep runs in the tournament.

Can't say that I really see much of a standard of excellence in what you say...which will make it easy for him to be successful in your eyes I guess.

The goal is to develop people and win doing it. There aren't many better than Crean. How can you not like him? Izzo and Saban would definitely run around with a clueless used car salesman... Makes sense. The standard is every day! It's not a championship or a title to win. It's an every day proposition. Crean is a CEO. A lot of coaches don't want to do the stuff he does... He goes the distance. We all think we care. This guy came here and became the caretaker. He gets what that means.

yeah, he seems to have blind loyalty. A la a family member, staffer, etc... Extremely loyal without any real expectations. #CreansSon

Lol JK or........not

I'm the farthest thing from a blind loyalist.

My expectations don't mean anything. Fans standards are irrelevant. The place is sold out.

You seem to give him a pass on everything. You set no tangible goals.

If you aim for nothing you'll usually hit it.

I do not give him a pass on everything. You know, one can have thoughts that they don't put out there.

I just refuse to overreact on a game to game basis like some psycho. Look at the big picture. Crean has done a hell of a job bringing this program from the brink. Does he need to improve? No question about it! But to even think of getting rid of him... It's insane to me. He just won a B1G title and we wanna run him out? It's truly gross. Being an IU fan is embarrassing these days with the way people treat the coach.

When Crean took over there was nowhere to go but up. The only variables were how fast and how far. I can't say that I think he has over achieved on either variable. I do truly believe that he is at a crucial point. He needs to show that he can get past the previous levels he has reached and get into the upper echelon. I think he will get at least this year and next...maybe more to show whether he can or not. All I've got to judge him on is his track record. Sooner or later that defines you. We'll see.

It's early and I'm drunk but I just saw something that sobered me in a hurry. I'm checking out Wisky's schedule and it looks like they play OSU, MSU, Michigan, Maryland, and Indiana only once each this season and each of them are home games. In fact, unless I'm missing a page, I don't think they have MSU at all??? What?? I can't believe no one has said anything about this. Jesus, if they go in the dance with a number 1 seed it will be completely inflated. Is the B1G purposely keeping them from playing the top teams in the conference just to protect a tournament seed? WTH?

Upon further review, they do have MSU (at home) and play on the road at OSU and Maryland but just the once. Still think It's a joke.

What's the latest timeline on Hanners return? I dont think Hanner's return fixes a whole lot as he is prone to stupid fouls and is a second late reacting most of the time. He does a least look like more of a threat to the opposition compared to Hartman. His return may keep us from free falling out of the KenPom 250 D rankings. It's back to the basics with this group. STAY BETWEEN YOUR MAN AND THE FRIGGIN BASKET! Get a hand in the face when they shoot. Its not rocket science.
