#23 IU defeats #13 Maryland 89-70 post game thread

I remember Crean's first year one announcer saying his offense was very complicated, that it took time and intelligence to soak up all the plays and execute them. I think we just got to that point!

Amen to that

What you have to understand, especially for those of us from Indiana, is that IU basketball is our religion and Assembly Hall is our church.

Take me to church
I'll worship like a DAWG at the shrine of our lives....

The ref who called the foul on Yogi for blocking out the Maryland big should IMMEDIATELY BE FIRED! He clearly has no knowledge of the game of basketball as that was a textbook blockout. My fourth grader knows better.

I'm with you Alford. I think the ref thought he was arching his back  and possibly backing into the guy not allowing him to recover from the rebound safely. I'm just sayin'

It's too late for these riddles, just spill the beans! Haha! He better have been up sitting with the recruits visiting. That's the only excuse I'll accept.

Does anybody know which recruits were visiting?

What you have to understand, especially for those of us from Indiana, is that IU basketball is our religion and Assembly Hall is our church.

Here's how it shakes down:

1) Basketball is the #1 sport in the state of Indiana. It is played roughly 6 months out of the year

2) Talking about basketball is the #2 sport in the state of Indiana. It is played the other 6 months in addition to running concurrently with basketball season

3) Basketball is a religious experience for serious Hoosier fans. Last night was what we might call a REVIVAL!

Rojo was solid and the guys off the bench did their jobs-----Max stood out to me again.

He is starting to embrace his role and make positive contributions with his minutes.

Someone new seems to step up each game---Z3 at Illinois and Max tonight.

When Max gets comfortable with his shot he is going to be another deadly weapon.

To really understand, you will need to make that journey and experience the Hall in all of its glory.

On my bucket list - tried to work it out this year, but schedule didn't mesh with my son's hockey schedule back here in Buffalo.  I have already promised my daughter we will work something out for next year

This sums it up...when I was a kid growing up in Indiana, I had a hoop outside of my house (as most did) and there was a street light next to the hoop.  On the weekends, there was always a game going, people would come, people would go, but the game went on until everyone had to go home.  It would go from 5 on 5, to 3 on 3, to horse and 21, and back.  Week days after school, we would play until dinner and then after.  We played in the rain, in the heat, in the cold...I can't tell you how many times I was supposed to shovel the snow off the drive way, but I started with hoops court.  If you wanted to find me, I was outside shooting hoops.  I painted regulation lines on the street so that I could practice FT's and 3-pointers.  And the day after my last varsity game my senior year when we were put out of sectionals (when it was still a single tournament), I was still out there shooting hoops.
