IUBB vs. Penn State Game Thread

I missed my second game in a row and another W. After reading everyone's comments I feel in a much better place than a lot of you. Maybe its because I didn't get to scrutinize every aspect of the game like all of us Hoosiers do. But more likely the fact I missed it going between my son's basketball and baseball hitting practice. Yes you read that right, in the south baseball is played all but about a month and a half. I will take the win though. It looks we're in fifth in the Big and that much closer to the real tournament birth. Gotta stay positive.

I'm not happy but I'm not going to act like this team isn't trying to figure some things out still with Hartman at the 5 spot.

We have THE WORST rebounding effort I have ever seen. Malik Story, Nick williams and Tom Pritchard should put on a box out and rebounding clinic. So weird.

Why in the HELL was Crean not setting things up for Rojo who was flipping on fire and having his way. NOOOOO we are running high ball screens for Yogi who I love but had nothing going..

Basically, I hate our offense even though it is "elite". It scores but I absolutely hate it. How about throwing 2 or 3 screen sets in.

Positives.. Troy continues play great.

Stan freaking Robinson coming out party!! So happy for him to get a nice applause towards the end. 6 for 6 on free throws! With Hanner out, we could use a little extra punch.

Rojo was amazing. He is the calming force on this team.

Ok one negative. Blackmon.. he is great but he forces so much that is basically just a turnover. The amped competition is bringing him a dose of reality. He hit 2 big 3's for us.

All of our goals are still within reach---including a conference title---and a tourney run.

 

So---we just bought ourselves a little more time to try and figure out what we do with our inside game---or lack thereof.

 

At some point---like we did against UL---show April to the floor and say show time.

 

Let's get him minutes now because we are going to need him and Holt against bigger teams.

He is learning to play d n rebound. When he learns when to pass n when to shoot he is gonna be fine. I think he is just now learning what playing hard is all about at that level. We would have the best under 6 7 team in the country.

I honestly don't care how much we won by. We got a B1G win against a notoriously tough team. With a thin and short frontcourt. We're going to have to scrap for wins with everyone for the rest of the year. Time to get used to it and chill with the over-analysis of Troy's sock height. Enjoy the ride.

Apparently Crean said on the radio he needs to play harder----so he may be in the dog house.

 

But---Earth to Baby Bull---we need SOME size underneath to match up with the big boys of the world--April and Holt appear to be the best options going forward! :biggrin:

When's are next one? More baseball on Thursday lol. I use to get upset missing Indiana basketball, but not anymore. I have a calmness over me only zen master Jordan's coach could hope for. And its from not watching. I may take you up on that, and I have a sneaky suspicion many more other Hoosiers will be doing the same.

Colin was often overmatched inside---but he was solid and scrappy as usual.
