IUBB vs. Penn State Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Overall---I do not see tonight as negatively as some do.

We just came off a big win against O$U and P$U who had lost 3 straight wasn't intimidating to us---little letdown----but what IU forgot is that P$U had won 12 in a row before that.

P$U is a tough team that hustles and we controlled the game---barely---and played well enough to win.

Can't play like that at Illinois or we get whacked----and I predict we will come out ready on the road.

The concerning thing is teams have figured out how to guard us from 3----we have to drive and kick---and get to the line.

Colin --Troy---and Max will work when we want to play faster----but they are going to have trouble against the tall and beefy bigs we will be running into soon.

Suddenly----the Purdue matchup inside just became a lot tougher!

lol. Midway through that 2nd half I was thinking about the Purdue matchup too. Oh my! That's just sad.

Teams have flipped their defenses against us compared to last year.

Last year----they packed and jammed the inside against us and dared us to shoot outside.

This year---they are on our 3 point shooters and daring us to go inside to our bigs.

We must DRIVE--DRIVE--DRIVE!  Troy and Stan are going to end up being big if a run is in store!

Stan forced way too much last night.  I can remember three different times where he drove into double or triple teams to the hoop and threw up some garbage.  While driving, he had open teammates.  Rojo got angry at him once and Yogi yelled at him another.  I would have yanked him to the bench.

He shot 50%, 100% at the line. He got 4,rebounds, a steal, and did not turn the ball over. I wish they all would have been this efficient.

The lineup of Burton/Ferrell/Hartman/Robinson/Williams was plus-10 over a key 4:56 stretch (when the game went from tied 51-51 to IU leading by double digits). This tied a season high set back in the season opener against Mississippi Valley St.
That lineup was the only one to outscore Penn State in the second half.
Plus/Minus: Burton plus-10, Hartman plus-8, Robinson plus-6, Williams 0, Ferrell/Zeisloft minus-2, Hoetzel/Holt minus-5, Blackmon/Johnson minus-10
From Assembly Call
Second half

He didn't have an awful game, but that selfish garbage needs to stop.

Thanks for the numbers. I'm really surprised Rob was -10 given his ability to shoot last night. But wow Burton is about all I can say. Really gave us a lift off the bench.

If I knrw anything about PU. I worry about both bigs in at the same time against us.

Purdue never plays the two bigs at the same time because both play exactly the same style of game and there's only room for one on the court at a time. It would be like us playing two Hanners if we had them.
