Colin was often overmatched inside---but he was solid and scrappy as usual.

 

2nd leading rebounder with 5------and hit that huge 3 pointer late.

 

He did his part.

RoJo was the real deal tonight-----we should have tried to find him some more shots.

 

He was hot!

 

20 points on 7-11 shooting overall and 4-6 shooting from 3 point range.

 

Statistics--wise he was MVP!

Troy continues to improve---double figures---I think 15 tonight and big plays mixed in with a few bonehead ones. 

 

We are going to get that from Troy---- his positives outweigh the negatives tonight!

When's are next one? More baseball on Thursday lol. I use to get upset missing Indiana basketball, but not anymore. I have a calmness over me only zen master Jordan's coach could hope for. And its from not watching. I may take you up on that, and I have a sneaky suspicion many more other Hoosiers will be doing the same.

I think the next game is at Illinois...

honestly...it's probably gonna take an entire btownbanners participation to win that one...

Teams are taking away the 3---so we have to drive---no one does it any better then Stan and Troy.

 

Great to see the 6-6 from the free throw line and great to see double figures from Stan.

 

He's taken a lot of criticism on here---much of it deserved.

 

But--let's give him some praises tonight because we needed him down the stretch.

Besides Stan---the big surprise for me was Burton.

 

Be honest---did anyone else besides me cringe when you saw him coming into the game?

 

His 3 rebounds---2 offensive---in 5 minutes of play sparked the breakaway from a tied game to a decent lead when we really needed it.  If Crean is not going to play April----get Burton in there as he has some size and hustles.

 

Our options are few inside---Burton just might have played himself into some minutes at Illinois to back up Holt.

Burton is a Jarrad Odle clone. He can shoot too. I saw him in HS and he was draining 3s. He was listed at 6"9. Obviously that was exaggerated.

It wasn't pretty---but it's a win.

All of our goals are still within reach---including a conference title---and a tourney run.

So---we just bought ourselves a little more time to try and figure out what we do with our inside game---or lack thereof.

At some point---like we did against UL---show April to the floor and say show time.

Let's get him minutes now because we are going to need him and Holt against bigger teams.

Our resident insider (basketball4IU) said April doesn't know the offense and lacks in motivation and upstairs.

How many times did this happen???

Open 3 point PSU shooter pump fakes an OPEN shot, our defender is late and flys by. PSU drives to midrange takes an OPEN shot, Misses, only to be rebounded by a NONBLOCKED out PSU player who puts in an UNCONTESTED shot.

3 open looks in one play numerous freaking times. It should NEVER, NEVER, EVER happen.

Not their best games---Holt looked a little out of sorts tonight---no rebounds.

 

Yogi---wherefore art thou brother?

 

His D was good---but honestly I am starting to miss "scoring Yogi".

 

Blackmon---disappeared for stretches----but was the leading rebounder with 6 ---so I will give him a pass.

 

Z3---not as much impact tonight either.

Holt and Burton (alternated) is not ideal but they have bodies to bang with the big boys.

Colin --Troy---and Max will work when we want to play faster----but they are going to have trouble against the tall and beefy bigs we will be running into soon.
