IUBB vs. Ohio St. Post Game Thread

I talk about the positive and negative things about our program. All good coaches see the negatives even in the wins and the positives in the losses. I feel I do just that.

This times like 100000000000000. I get that not everyone is going to agree on things, that is part of what makes this place great. The constant comments about other people's posting and posting styles is starting to wear me down with my interest in posting here

Edit: I'll add that I get the comments about some posters. But that is because they can only be bothered to post when things are going wrong and they always post the same dang thing

Fair enough. You are generally an objective poster.

It's just nice to be able to enjoy a win after that MSU beatdown.

Wow. Just watching Crean's post game presser. At about the 2:30 mark, Crean actually said that "Hanner did fine, it just that there’s too much foul trouble". SMH.  I wonder who is this "Hanner" of whom he speaks?

Hanner didn't play bad if you take the fouls out of it.  4 points, 2 rebounds in 8 minutes, it's just the stupid fouls.  He needs to find the middle ground between standing there with his arms straight up and going for every pump fake.

5 Observations.

1. Our best lineup is Ferrell, JBJ, TW, Hartman, and Holt. IMO.

2. Hartman would be a better Center than Perea. At 3 inches less.

3. Johnson looks more like a PG than a SG.

4. Ferrell is a All Big Ten Defender.

5. This team is teasing us.

I agree with #5 100%----we still haven't even scratched the surface of what we can become!

I'm sorry, but I still don't think our defense was any good today.  Glad we won, but c'mon.  They only had 5 TOs.  I'll have to watch the DVR and count how many lay-ups or wide open 3's they missed.  We're constantly out of position still and bite on ANY pump fake.  How many and-1's did they get in the last 2 minutes of the game? 3?  We don't communicate well and seem to struggle mightily when switching from man to zone and back again.  The one highlight to me is the 7 blocks.  We tried to give this game away.

This team definitely has potential.  They can be something special, but until we buy into a consistent defensive effort, they'll be wildly inconsistent with their wins and losses.

I found myself zeroing in on and watching Hartman move around the Court----his hustle and effort is amazing. I am not sure we win this game without his intangibles----scrappy play---key rebounds and blocks---big shots, etc.

He continues to be the biggest surprise this year.

He gets it!

He gets that it's one game of 5-on-5 not 5 games of 1-on-1. He plays selflessly.

Not necessarily the most talented kid but definitely team oriented.
