IUBB vs. Ohio St. Post Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Troy with a great effort----double---double!

He and Hartman brought the energy we needed to jump on OSU.

Dakich is right---I hold my breath every time he gets the ball in the open court because you never know whether it's going to be a sportscenter highlight or an epic fail.

He has improved and he is a game changer.

His athleticism is phenomenal! I actually think he is more athletic than Olidipo(sp?) Was.

I've pretty much given up on Hanner learning "the game" but for goodness sake can someone teach him HOW to foul?

Lol I agree. On the one foul where he barely bumped the guy I caught myself saying out loud, "don't let that ball get in the air!" At least get your money's worth and don't let them have a three point opportunity!

I'm sorry, but I still don't think our defense was any good today.  Glad we won, but c'mon.  They only had 5 TOs.  I'll have to watch the DVR and count how many lay-ups or wide open 3's they missed.  We're constantly out of position still and bite on ANY pump fake.  How many and-1's did they get in the last 2 minutes of the game? 3?  We don't communicate well and seem to struggle mightily when switching from man to zone and back again.  The one highlight to me is the 7 blocks.  We tried to give this game away.

This team definitely has potential.  They can be something special, but until we buy into a consistent defensive effort, they'll be wildly inconsistent with their wins and losses.

I agree 100 %

I disagree---we had some breakdowns but it was usually on second efforts or put backs.

OSU came in as a top offensive club and we held them to 23 of 67 shooting or 23%.

We also held them to 3 of 21 shooting from behind the arc or 14%.

We outrebounded them 48-39.

That's good defense in my book!

I felt the problem today was our offense---if we had been hitting---we would have buried them.

I get their shooting percentage was low, but they missed 12 lay-ups and I'm re-watching the game now and they missed 4 wide open 3's in the first 8 minutes of the game.  I'll adjust after I have re-watched, but it won't surprise me if they missed 7-10 wide open 3's with all those lay-ups.  While I agree we were better than normal, that's not saying much imo.  We're still awful defensively, which is a shame, cause we have the talent and physical attributes to be so much better.

Love Hartman's energy. But all the talk of him "getting it" I don't 100% agree with. Forgot the game already, but the game where we had two late failed in bound attempts, Hartman was the inbounder for one of them and called the TO too quickly when he had two open guys. Today, he had that careless turnover when OSU brought the full court press resulting on an and-1 for OSU. He is a spark plug for the team, and his effort is absolutely outstanding. I love him as a player, but he's made a decent amount of mental mistakes this season, just as the rest of the team has. This same rant goes for Z too. Kid gives great effort and hits some huge shots, but his half court take down the other day, the foul after the Hartman TO creating the and-1, and the foul on Russell after the missed FT.

Big difference between 6'4 n 6'7

I believe his height gives him the potential to be better than Vic. If he can improve his outside shooting and decision making like Vic did the sky is the limit!

He reminds me a little of Pippen. He's not nearly on Pippens level yet but his athleticism and length are astounding.

He's actually not a bad ball handler it's just that he hasn't quite learned how to stay out of certain situations!

Not sure who the last player with his potential was at IU.

I kinda hope he doesn't quite put it all together this year and comes back for his junior year. He could potentially be in player of the year discussions next year I believe...and I mean nationally.

I agree we can still do better defensively---but I am not ready to say their misses were just all bad luck.  That's a highly ranked BBall team we just beat.

Ant Lee's look on the bench late in the game was great! What a horrible decision he made. Although, maybe it wouldn't have panned out at IU either.

I wondered the same thing WayneFleek!

I am normally not that rough on a kid for their decision to got to another school---but I remember how he stiffed us and then I heard he made pro-OSU and anti-IU comments----without even visiting here or giving us a chance after Matta worked his magic.

So Lee---How's that transfer working out for you now?
