IUBB vs. Ohio St. Post Game Thread

I believe his height gives him the potential to be better than Vic. If he can improve his outside shooting and decision making like Vic did the sky is the limit!

He reminds me a little of Pippen. He's not nearly on Pippens level yet but his athleticism and length are astounding.

He's actually not a bad ball handler it's just that he hasn't quite learned how to stay out of certain situations!

Not sure who the last player with his potential was at IU.

I kinda hope he doesn't quite put it all together this year and comes back for his junior year. He could potentially be in player of the year discussions next year I believe...and I mean nationally.

If he's willing to work like Vic this summer, maybe.

Troy's handles have gotten better and his basketball IQ is light years ahead of what it was last season. But. let's not forget that Vic worked his butt off to become a good shooter and played defense as if his life depended on it.

Troy is extremely athletic, but players like Vic who have the athleticism and the desire to make the absolute most out of it don't grow on trees. Maybe Troy is one of those guys. We'll need to see it on the court next season before we can proclaim it so.

Whoa.

Lol. I thought the same about Vic near the end of his sophomore year. I remember watching them in the tournament against UK and Kentucky just flat could not stop him in the pick and roll. That summer is when he developed his outside shot and just exploded his junior year.

TW isn't a finished product by any means but his potential is enormous. TW has really made some strides...really hope he continues.

He develops an outside shot and he's leaving.

Agree totally on all points especially the work ethic part. To me that's what sets the greatest players apart from the rest. Their work ethic and desire to be the best and dominate. Vic had it...Troy needs to have it and the sky's the limit!

I know there was definitely plenty to be desired after today's game, but it's damn hard to argue with results.

@Justin_Albers: Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell was just 3-of-15 from the field. IU held OSU, one of nation’s best FG% teams, to 34 percent. #iubb

Didn't realize this during the game, but as someone pointed out on twitter, Hoetzel didn't see the floor.

Good. I don't think he's ready for a game of that caliber yet. Especially late when they were on the comeback. Probably not a popular opinion, but I'm not ready for him to be in the big games.

Yogi had a bad day offensively, but he deserves major props for locking down Russell.

All in all I'd say a win is a win.  Didn't look bad but not particularly good either, we did show toughness though and that counts.

We dominated the boards.  OSU had a bad shooting percentage and some credit has to go to our defense, but make no mistake they missed a lot of wide open looks and Thompson put up enough bricks to build a house.

Have you noticed how often we've seen teams have poor shooting performances against us? There have been three or four games this year where teams couldn't make layups. At first, I thought it was luck, but now I'm starting to think it may be our team pushing the tempo of the game to a point that other teams are uncomfortable and choke trying to keep up. Thoughts?

I thought we caught OSU on a bad day. I have a feeling they are better than this. Not impressed with Ant Lee at all. TV Ted was himself today. Now, Hartman thank you for a being a Hoosier. I don't know how much I can say that. I glad JBJ showed up. Not sure what was up with Yogi. Stan was trying to make lemonade with ??? He tried to create something on those drives that I don't understand. Great job on the win. Keep improving!

and pulling Holt out when he was hot leaving Hartman alone to defend the post

this, Colin played great but was getting handled on the defensive end when he was guarding the five. him and z man should never be in the lineup together in my opinion. Holt should have saw a lot more time, he boxed out and rebounded at a very high level as well as blocked some big shots. so I think it's fair to criticise the subs I was certainly baffled at times tonight. good for Dan to say something live on air that many of us fans have been screaming about for a long time.

Great win!  A couple things I noticed:

With less than a minute left and :03 on the shot clock, Yogi dribbled the ball, it hit an O$U player on the foot, it went straight out of bounds.  Why wasn't that a reset clock on a kicked ball?  Have they changed that rule?

On a timeout early in the game, the camera was showing the Ohio State bench when an O$U assistant held a card up to block said camera.  The card was a scorecard where you could see he was tracking player deflections.  Did anybody else notice that?

Shot clock only resets when the other team gains possession. It was called out off of his foot, not a kicked ball as well.

I may be going off old rules, but isn't every kicked ball a reset of the shot clock?  Then they changed it to only reset to :14 instead, now is that rule gone?

Hmm...that rule sounds familiar with the NBA. Like if there is a foul or kick under :14 seconds, the clock gets reset to :14, but I'm really not sure about college. Regardless, in this situation, it was just called out of bounds as opposed to a kick.
