IUBB vs. Ohio St. Post Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Blackmon going out as soon as he heated up. Then Troy around the same time. Our lead went from 10ish to 3 with them on the bench AFTER they were both feeling it on the floor. Somewhere in the range of 10-6 minutes left. Crucial time to have your HOT/best guys out.

They had to sit at some point. Had Blackmon even sat in 2nd half to that point?

I just don't see how those subs that are such marginal moments in a 40 minute game makes people feel down about the win.

it wasn't only that. BUT we played tough. I am good with it all. I am very happy to get the W.

I think it was more of HOW we coughed up the last 10 point lead that soured most.

Yogi acted hungover for most of the game.
Collin Hartman does Collin Hartman things.
Troy is a monster. When he plays like this we're dangerous.
I don't know how, it definitely didn't seem like it but JBJ somehow lead in points.
I don't know why Hanner was in at the end and even had a chance to foul out.
Emmitt played great. Needs to start.
Good win even though not our best game.

That's because you haven't been here long enough yet.

You are right---keep your optimism.

Some posters on here like to pick at the edges and are never happy----I agree that taking Blackmon out was strange because he was hot----but did he ask for a breather?  Did Crean give him one then to have him ready for the stretch run? We don't know all the facts but pretend we do.

We just beat another ranked team who preseason was thought to be the second best team in the Big Ten.

I am sure happy about that!

I understand the criticism and obviously would love if this IU team could step on someone's throat like that at the end of a game but we're just not there yet. I don't see that as a bad thing because I think last year we would've just blown the lead completely and lost. This team has shown more composure (besides MSU game) than last and we can build off that.

The way I see it basketball is a game of runs and both IU and OSU are teams that thrive off that aspect of the game. Getting a lead from 10 to 20 is a lot tougher against a team like OSU than getting it from 2 to 10. This team hasn't learned to get it to 20 but they will. So many players are progressing and growing. A loss like MSU was going to happen with this group but a win like this and against Nebraska shows that the MSU loss was the exception and not the norm.

Did everyone see DD talking to TV Teddy when they were reviewing the down-and-back call on JBJ? Is it just me, or was that really weird. TV ran across the court to listen to what DD had to say about the call.

I believe it was only to tell DD what the call was so he could relay to the TV audience. Right after it DD told us what the call and reasoning was

I talk about the positive and negative things about our program. All good coaches see the negatives even in the wins and the positives in the losses. I feel I do just that.
