Walking Boot of Doom

IU vs. MSU Postgame

Recommended Posts

Its a tough place to win but the whole damn team may as well stayed in Btown. So sick of these refs having zero respect for Crean.

Mike Davis just won there with his Texas Southern team.  They also just lost to Maryland at home.  No excuse to get blown out with 5 days to prepare.  Joe Lunardi had MSU as his "last team in" the tournament today.  Pretty poor showing.

I know a coach can only do so much. Maybe tonight is just one of those games where it snow balled and there was nothing we could do to turn the tide. That happens. After all, a coach shouldn't be judged by one game.

However, I'm waaaaaay over all of this "youth" and "he can't make the shots for them" stuff. Come on, folks. Of course there's elements that are out of his control. On the flip side, there's TONS of things that he can control.

- He's hand picked his players.
- He selected his staff.
- He picks the style of play and the system.
- He decides how to develop the players, etc.
- He decides nearly every detail in the program...and yes...he is a micro manager.

I'm not saying fire him midseason, but what happens on his watch is his responsibility...whether it's on or off the court. That's why being the coach here is a huge responsibility. IU is an elite program (well, I hope we still are), and settling for mediocrity will have long-term damaging effects on the program.

I picked us to win this one by 10... Man was I wrong...but I think it's high time we start to expect some consistency in our program.                                 Freakin this!

This is, by the way, a below average MSU team who played their best today. Take it for what it is (a tough road loss in the B1G) and move on, but man it hurts. I thought we should have handed it to them.

Seriously---for all of us old schoolers ---and those of you who follow the Hoosiers closely-----how many times have we gone into the Breslin Center and gotten a W ????

Let's not pretend this is a total shocker----MSU is a good team and they are tough to beat at home---- and we had a bad night.

Not the end of the world---yet.

We have to get the defense better sooner---rather than later.

not a shocker...

but the B1G Network revealed something that I didn't know...

the last 6 games between IU and MSU have been determined by less than 5 points...

and then this egg...I was expecting a closer game...

moving on to OSU...

IU needs to make a statement.

I give u credit for spreading optomism but to play like that is a shocker. U can go there and lose that is ok but what happened tonight is not ok. I get we shot bad and that is fine but everything else is uncalled for and leaves alot of doubts in my mind.

They obviously didn't do their homework (shocker).

Here are the scores of our last 6 games against MSU prior to tonight:

71-66

73-56

72-68

75-70

70-55

80-65

Only three of the six were decided by the margin they mentioned. Typical BTN.

Our worst fears on the court happened and very quickly. Hanner gets 2 quick ones and we can't throw it in the ocean. You have to give Izzo credit though. He gameplanned mugging JB2 into a non factor and was determined to exploit our obvious inside weakness. We will see more of the same every Big game going forward until we develop an inside game which we don't have. The long Big year many of us saw coming is upon us and our soft style of play will get abused from everyone from Maryland to Purdue. Crean has to speed things up, and I am even amazed yet again he doesn't try more things to do it. We can't play in a half court game and expect to win in this league. All we have is quickness on the court combined with good shooting when open. I really don't think he has any idea what todo when all everyone can say is he finally has his 4 guard lineup. Really?

Jesus that was hard to watch.... I think Crean needs to prepare his team more for defenses like this. Our big man problem is continuing to show off as we continue to let other teams grab many many offensive rebounds, going to be a rough season if we keep letting opponents grab offensive rebounds.
