Emmit Holt watch

The other thing is that the level of play he has for a couple of minutes won't necessarily be the same for 25 minutes. He may not contribute any more in 25 than in 5...

Not saying that would be the case, but obviously the staff has a reason. If he was a difference maker he'd be on the court.

where he has played significant minutes, he has been the difference maker

I had not heard that. Wasn't noticeably affecting his movement

I remember when he tweeked it...I was like NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!.....I figured thats why he didn't play much after....maybe didn't affect his movement but it was an endurance issue...could only maintain for 3-5 min spurts....idk though just guessing....

I think we all agree he's a great get: a current contributor who will only improve. Note that per-minute production tends to decline at least slightly in extended minutes, as players fatigue, weaknesses are exposed, more minutes against opposing starters diminish contributions, etc.

I guess my point is that it looks like IU has two good options at the five, both of whom are improving!

Look at Sheehey last year. He wasn't half the player he was off the bench. More minutes just doesn't mean more of the same.

I really like our future with Hanner and Holt----feeling better about our inside issues.

I also hear Holt has had a nagging ankle injury that probably limited his minutes some.

Holt and Hartman have some efficient offensive numbers in limited minutes.

We have some building blocks---and I think Holt will make a huge jump next year.

Future is looking brighter Hoosier Nation!

Already drooling over this team for next year if all the main cogs stay, Holt amd hanner become gym rats and then we have 2 athletic forwards coming in to develop without feeding them to the wolves from the get go.

Looking out further, if yogi, JBJ and Troy all leave next year, we might have another setback year depending on how we recruit coming up this spring.

Agree Bleedhoosier---if everything falls into place----next year could be special.

I even want to see what DD brings to the mix next year----he worked so hard last off season and was going to help us a lot this year inside as well.  He will be back too---health permitting!

I dare someone to try and rationalize Hanner starting over this kid after that completely uninspired performance. The kid's idea of defense is to try and draw a charge. He's 6 freaking 9 and that's his best option. He missed two easy shots in crunch time. I fail to see any part of Hanner's game that deems him a starter. It's bad when I feel more comfortable with Hartman and Hoetzel down low. Start Emmitt

Hartman blocked out the big guy and got the rebound on that last play in regulation......so it can be done......Start Emmitt.

My thought near the end of the game today was that if Holt is actually competent HE may be the one that leaves after this season. Dude shoulda got a little more playing time today in my opinion.

I dont see Yogi, JBJ, and TW leaving. If anything they will stay for a final four run.

Unless there is a major upgrade on the interior I don't see a final four run happening.

that is kind if what I have been getting at throughout this thread. He and Johnson are the future of this recruiting class. Johnson is getting a lot of minutes, Holt is not. Someone argued earlier that HMP is the now and Holt is the future. If Crean doesn't get his head out of his arse his future might walk out the door because his future is better then his present and who would want to deal with that? I know I wouldn't

It's a big reason I don't see the rosy future for next season that some are predicting. If Holt isn't developed any better than Perea has been them we'll be a little better next year at what our strengths are this year. Ii don't see Morgan or Abunoby be a huge difference maker next year. From what I read and hear I'm not sure our prospects are very strong with Bryant. I don't see what some are predicting for next year but I'd love to be wrong.
