Nebraska fires 9-3 Coach Bo Pelini

Recommended Posts

Wow.... Think he wants to wear similar colors in Indiana?? Get a chance to show Nebraska what they are missing??

Can you imagine that kind of record at Indiana... We'd name Bloomington after the guy who does that for our football program.

I know Hoke has a contract clause to where he can't take a B1G job even if he's fired. Wonder if Bo has the same thing?

I think Michigan should revise the clause. I think I'd want to face a Hoke coached team every year if I were Michigan lol.

It's going to be a really interesting coaching carousel this year with Nebraska, Florida and Michigan open at the top. I'll be honest and say that I sometimes find it more interesting to follow all the coaching changes than the actual season. I would imagine that's a result of how bad we always are.

Meanwhile, we keep a coach who's 14-34 with no bowl games in four seasons and is losing recruits left and right. Football really is nothing more than a sideshow around here.

We've lost Booker (who I wanted) and Stevens...who I've watched play and I went to 3 camps with him. Stevens is not a great QB. He has serious accuracy problems. I never wanted him to come to IU and would prefer us get a juco to backup or push sudfeld next year and then really go after top QBs for the 2016/2017 classes.

So for your point losing recruits left and right.....these are the only two that really might have an impact. Stevens (left) booker (right). Wilson is a great recruiter and has got top recruits (mainly good 3stars) the past two years and he has developed them....we have to realize that this is still a young team and that if next year we don't make a bowl....we can storm the field with pitchforks. I was optimistic about this year thinking 8-9 wins but obviously I was wrong. I still believe Wilson can get this going at IU.

I agree. If we fire Wilson, the coordinators are probably gone too, which means all new schemes and probably quite a few transfers. We'd have to completely restart the rebuild building up of the program.

Honestly, what helped me turn the corner on Wilson some is Diamont's progress during the season. He was a much better QB the last game he started than the first even if he has a long way to go. He needed that redshirt season but not too bad.

I mean, I still wouldn't have been sad to hear that Wilson was being fired, but I can survive another year.  After all, it's IU Football. I can't care too much.

Glad we're keeping Wilson. Wouldn't have been overly sad if we fired him except for the rebuild we probably would've gone through. I think this could end up working nicely actually. The only good I've heard about Stevens come from his 4 star rating. Other than that, everyone seems unimpressed by him. (I've only seen highlights)

Since Sudfeld got hurt this year, the silver lining was that a young guy got thrown in the fire to see what it was like. Get him redshirted next year, maybe bring in a JUCO, or stick with Sudfeld, and let Zander get stronger (please Zander, for the love of GOD get stronger, for your sake) and prepare for his Junior season. Maybe we get a big time QB by then, but at the very least we have a 3rd year guy that has basically an entire year of experience under his belt and knows what's in store for him. Not to mention a stable of Junior recievers that hopefully will have their case of the dropsies cured by then and some monster Juniors and Seniors on D.

I wouldn't get rid of Wilson due to how things unfolded.  That being said, it's not a choice players should make.  We went down that road with Mike Davis.

1-7 in conference. Could it get much worse?
