So who's going to be the new Coach next year?

Recommended Posts

With a first year coach (literately) Butler beats UNC in a neutral court...Meanwhile we can't even beat Eastern Washington AT Assembly Hall...sad state for the program.

So---are you saying UNC should fire their HOF Coach--Roy Williams?

We could play these games all day.

I am disappointed too----and only giving Crean this year to get back on track---but EWU is a good team and if they don't get bit by the injury bug--- I predict they are an NCAA tourney team.  They almost beat SMU at SMU before our game----does SMU need to fire Larry Brown because of that---because we beat SMU?

Welcome to the parity of college basketball---the game results don't always make sense.

We are a demanding bunch-----the grass is always greener on the other side until we get the grass and then we don't like that grass either.  Maybe if our grass/Crean has another subpar year----we actually go for the more expensive artificial surface this time with a can't miss --big time---hire.  Otherwise, the saga of the grass continues.

Deep---think about it.

But---that artificial surface is so expensive and would have to be special ordered---not sure it would even fit/come to IU if we could afford it!

And if that's the case we might be better off keeping the grass we have and fertilizing it until it grows up to be the grass we all want?

OR---we can keep cutting down the grass we have and pouring gas on it until we kill it----and then look for new grass only to have to repeat the same lawncare maintenance schedule in just a few years.

Meanwhile our grass is no longer looking so green and our eyes are straying as we look at other greener grass on the other side.

And so it goes----the saga of the grass continues.

Seems like you have a lot of "grass" on your mind rebel. You been showin' Stan love?

As chief optimist here in charge of keeping the rest of us sane, how far into the season/what kind of losses would you look for before starting a behind the scenes coach search this year?

I think we all agree that we would prefer a managed transfer of the team to a new coach who is hired before anything is announced, not a period of coachlessness, so the wheels have to start turning before the spring. I'm just curious what it would take to get you turning them.

That recruits at a high level, but has 4-year players that can contribute. Oh and those players should stay out of trouble. And get excellent grades. Oh, and they should understand what it means to be a Hoosier. And they should eventually make it to the NBA and have excellent careers, but they shouldn't leave until we're ready to let them go.

This fanbase demands a lot. I will be very interested to see who can give us everything we're asking for one day.

You do not have to give all those things but start with winning and the so the other things most of the time and you are OK. If you do not win you better do all the others very well and sell us on the idea that wins are coming

I didn't say anything about a new coach. I'm just stating that if lived in a perfect NCAA MBB world, and IU was my heaven, that's what i would ask for. I was actually thinking about how the NCAA is letting these kids get a scholarship to a high-level academic University (disregard UK on this one but still applicable) knowing they are going to leave the University without a degree. I was under the assumption that you were a student first and athlete second. I believe the NCAA....or at least the university, needs to re-evaluate. I don't know! I want a good basketball team to represent us, but academics first..... If they receive a scholarship, they should be held to degree completion unless there are circumstances that prove otherwise. Drafted by the NBA is not one of the circumstances. I know, I know....wrong thread.

In all honesty, i don't care if Crean stays or not as long as he maintains his academic record. I'm extremely proud of that fact. As we all should. I think his accomplishment, in that regard, outweighs alot of other things.

I think you know what he's trying to say, but nice deflection.

Crean apologists crack me up by acting like people are fed up with Crean because of any single game.

I feel like there is a difference to losing to a 42nd ranked team on a neutral court and losing to a 127th (after beating us) ranked team at home though.

I understand, but I hope you also understood my point. We are a very demanding fanbase. We won't just be happy with winning, we need it all.

That's not true. Get wins , kids go to class, and don't get any serious trouble. I know I can do the last two, for 3 mil a year I would be able to accomplish those three tasks. I live in nc and they rail on Roy ( prior to scandal) even after two banners. When I go back to Syracuse , they destroy boheim. U really have no idea what your talking about. We're upset yes but nowhere near as disturbing as other fan bases.

What you guys in SEC country are saying is causing me to rethink the idea that Donovan is off the board for IU. Let IU make him a great of$er and show him that IU fans live for Hoosier basketball. Maybe he will come. It's an exciting possibility.

He is only 49, so he still has a lot of time left and surely he wants to coach at a basketball school. He could win a dozen NCs at Florida, but the fanbase will not care unless it is football. Make him a good offer and all he can do is say no.

Getting wins won't cut it. Crean got wins in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 so then the complaint is that we didn't make it past the Sweet Sixteen. Valid complaints. But if you going to try to tell me we aren't a demanding fan base, then we aren't going to be able to agree. I didn't compare us to other fan bases, I said we are very demanding. I can't speak for other fan bases.
