It's being selfish---but if he could come back healthy at the level he was-----he gives us another battle-tested warrior inside.

 

I suppose that is something that depends on Hanner's progress------- and Davis after consulting with his family.

Although it's under the worst circumstances, I believe this would be best long-term for DD and our basketball program.   I'm expecting him to come back strong next year, but don't want anything to be rushed.

Really hope Devin can recover from this traumatic injury. He can contribute to the team by his example with his work ethic.

Once he's back in full run with the team and gets back on the court I'm willing to bet we see some emotions.

We all hope that things work out for Devin both off the court and on the court, but y'all need to be prepared: Because of the nature of his injury, there is a real chance that will not be the case.

Everyone heals differently, I had a bad stroke almost 7 years ago, and I'm still not fully recovered, when I was in rehab, I saw people that made progress so muck faster than me, and some much slower.3 things he definitely has going for him,1. his age,2. His overall fitness, and 3. The amazing medical staff affiliated with IU. Full recovery is prayed for and expected.

*Disclaimer : am I a medical expert, No. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

His demeanor may change anyway just due to the fact that he almost lost his life. That will make u grow up and set a certain wisdom upon u that your not going to gain otherwise

Regarding Devin's demeanor and facial expression at games: Depression and a flat affect are common symptoms of a traumatic brain injury. ( I am not a medical expert but do know something about traumatic brain injury because a family member suffered from one. )

 

Devin has made amazing progress but he still needs time to heal. I wouldn't expect him to be laughing, smiling, and jumping around high-fiving his teammates right now. It's just a blessing to see him at the games.

I hope I don't get killed for this, but it's probably best that he's more "quiet" now.  The Devin that ran into traffic needed a change.  I respect the hell out of him for realizing that.

Kind of crazy that he won't be able to sit on the bench tomorrow. Seems like they would have enough seats for all their team members.
