Revised Season Expectations

Recommended Posts

And you should quit sounding like a sniveling little sh.t. I've watched more IU basketball and Big Ten basketball games than you've even dreamed about. While you were filling your Pampers with the tripe you bestow here, the rest of us were watching McCracken, and Knight teach the game of basketball. Like too many Crean apologists, you think the rest of us should just turn a blind eye to the mess that he's created and assume all will be well in the end. I've watched too many basketball teams, for too many years to be willing to buy in to the slop you're dropping. Stop embarrassing yourself.

thank you for addressing the important parts of my post. Good day

I'd have been more inclined, had I seen anything important enough to warrant typing a proper response. Mostly, your dismissive , bio laden but otherwise desolate post warranted little more than what you received.

"Important enough to warrant a response" I'm sorry, this is a message board. Did you think this was Assembly Hall? Because it's not. Apparently nothing here is important enough for you to reply to, you're so above all of us a reply to the most important thing a poster can do here... Post... Isn't warranted.

Thank God we have Hoosier 62 guys, what a blessing to have someone so basketball knowledgeable on this board. He's learned from the likes of McCracken and knight. He can't be bothered by our inferiority.

He will lead the Hoosiers to greatness, he's so important! All hail 62!

/s

That means sarcasm. I figure your brain has too much basketball knowledge for anything else to be stored.

But beyond a sarcastic post, why don't you tell us how to coach the boys to victory? Or is the only way to win with bigs? In which case you must not be a very good coach or basketball fan, seeing as how plenty of smaller teams beat tall teams all the time.

Does this warrant a reply?

Reasonable evidence is present in both recent and past histories. The Big Ten has always been a big man's league, not given to suffering fools and little guards, easily, and it's been that way for decades. Small ball doesn't play well here, at least not in the long haul. Traditionally large, muscular teams such as Michigan State will eat us alive in the post, without having to sacrifice perimeter defense. This irony of this of course is that the team we've become is exactly like the teams we used to host back in the seventies and eighties. Small, guard oriented, turnover prone teams with a few sharp shooters, and no post play to speak of. With very few exceptions, we ate them for lunch. They'd go on to have their 20 wins, usually in a mid major conference, then get destroyed in the tournament. Now here we sit, with a small, guard oriented, turnover prone team, with a few sharp shooters.

Those teams were the type that had Zeisloft as the Senior star, not 6th, 7th or 8th down the line. Those weren't teams that had our top to bottom guard play.

The last Indiana team that played for a National Title had a robust 12 less total turnovers for the whole season than our "turrible " team last season, when adjusted for games played.

That won't fly here long...

Frankly I couldn't care less. If you are truly offended by what I wrote, (and for people who make that statement, it almost always means they weren't), then you very likely could be just as offended by the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, reasoning that "Goldi" had no right to invite herself in to the home a protected species, consuming what may very well have been the last of their already diminishing food stuffs, and finally relegating at least one of them to sleep on the floor, (whilst no doubt, she lounged on someone's Serta Sleeper).

If you feel there are "better ways to express our non-conference schedule", then you should do so rather than feigning righteous indignation at another person's approach.

You may have graduated from IU in 1962, but you're not nearly as intelligent as you've come to let yourself believe.

Your approach was appalling and not any less offensive than had you mentioned a 1981 team member. That kind of analogy has no place, and if that's the best you can come up with....

I am not a huge supporter of CTC. But, I am a Hoosier fan, I want an excellent season, a good run in the conference and NCAA tournaments.I also enjoyed Knight and his obnoxious behavior (at times). And Mc Cracken was the coach that made me a fan. At all costs, support the team.

I already made a silly prediction, but since this thread has derailed horribly I will make a real prediction.

To preface, I must say I am overly surprised by Hanner. If some of you will recall, I said thatall we need from him is rebounds and blocks and we could play a similar game to UCONN last year.

So far he has done that and more. Now the teams they played weren't very good, but sit there and tell me that he would have played the same way last year against similar talent.

Similarly, I am very pleased with Rojo's play. He and JBJ will be a nice double freshman punch. Yogi, while still playing adequate, should really step up his game.

I think once Troy comes in the rebounds will be a little better. Stan shouldn't start over Rojo and should have to earn his way back to the line up.

Final prediction. 21 wins.

Well, if you all haven't guessed this threads on the radar. And certain posts will be getting some review.

Please and thank you.

So for those of us still interested in the topic at hand, anyone interested in weighing our updated/adjusted expectations against how the rest of the B1G is performing? We are only 1/14th of the puzzle after all...

It is so hard to judge. Minnesota got beat, but played ok. The rest have done as expected. We will know more about Sparty soon.

I'm hoping Sparty plays well for the conference's sake, but man. I just don't see how they can compete with duke. So much firepower. From what I've seen so far they are playing like the #1 team

Typically I stand by the resolution "Never count out Izzo." ...This year's team might make me reevaluate that maxim.

Agreed. There have been seasons where his teams have had subpar pre-conference record and still somehow finishes 1st-3rd in the conference.
