(2015) C Thomas Bryant to IU

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has been posted or not but there's some interesting stuff in here.

One thing that really stuck out was this quote from Yogi's dad,

"Look, he ultimately wants to do great things for his school. He may be leaning toward coming back. There are a few factors. Getting a big man to play with may be one of those.

Didn't really think Yogi leaving this year was a possibility until now.

Can one of the Admins ban this guy for ruining my day/week/month? Making me sad constitutes banning right?

Three predictions have gone away while IU/UK/Mizzous percentages have gone up (without receiving more). Cold feet by some soothsayers.

At least it was before he committed. Ford messed with his predictions after the drafts lol.

So if I understand the Cuse scholarship situation correctly, the self imposed a scholarship reduction for this season. Meaning if they take Bryant they have to get down to 11 players. They are currently at 13, Bryant would be 14. So Cuse would have to Crean 3 players to make it work. (I'd assume none will be the rising seniors, so thy can have a small class the following year)

IU is currently over signed by 2. If we add Bryant we have to drop another player, for a total of 3.

So both schools would have to Crean 3 players to get this kid. I first thought the sanctions would be the end of Cuse and Bryant. After reading more about it, I think it's a non issue.

Was just about to post this. Crean has our scholarship situation on par with a school that just had scholarships taken away.

Great roster management.

So what you are saying is the scholly situation at Syracuse" will work itself out". Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Bryant still ends up playing for the Cuse.

Maybe they can make it work this year. But what if Bryant stays for year 2 or 3 or 4? The scholarship issue will have a lasting impact on Syracuse over the course of Bryant's entire career if he were to go there.

Also, based on his track record, if Crean signs a player, that means there is a spot open. Regardless of how you feel about that, the way I see it, we need to open one more spot for Bryant, as the other two are already presumably secured. Syracuse now has to clear an additional two spots on top of the original one spot they planned to clear for Bryant.

It's not the same.

I don't believe it's the same. We will still have 13 scholarship players and they will have 11 or whatever.

As long as they don't Crean any of the to be seniors they will be fine I scholarships going forward. They will graduate 3 seniors next season, putting them at 9 scholarships. They can then have a class of 2. So the scholarship crunch might not be an issue if they tackle it early (this coming season).

Definitely not the same. But to be 2 over already and still recruiting a position of need is ridiculous. If he stays the Creaning needs to stop. According to the IU student bill of rights their scholarship is supposed to be guaranteed for 4 years.

It doesn't actually guarantee the scholarship four years, to my understanding. It guarantees them 4 years of paid education at IU,Should they chose to stay and take it, as a non-athlete.

Hypothetical. Crean could pull Priller and April's scholarships but then they can still get a free ride at IU? They just can't play on the team anymore.

Exactly. But most likely they would opt out to be able to play somewhere
