You never know, remember Ben Simmons' year at LSU. They also had 5* Antonio Blakeney as a freshmen. It was a complete disaster.

Very true, however Mizzou has most of their players returning and are adding a grad transfer as well

It'll be interesting to see how much money they're willing to pay his replacement. Doesn't K make a billion a year? I'd think they could get White for $4 mil/year. Are they willing to stay paying upwards of $10million for somebody like Stevens?

Almost $9 million for K it looks like

Seeing a lot of reports Coach K could be done after this year. Pure speculation by most on twitter, but it'd be foolish to expect Duke to drop down on kids lists. Duke is a machine. It will be interesting to see who they hire if something does happen w Coach K. I expect Mike White near the top of that list.

It'd be real interesting if the AD hires his own kid to replace an icon. Even if Mike is qualified for the job, I'm not sure if Papa White hires him for both their sake. My hunch is that Capel is the fall guy(guy who replaces the legend), then maybe White, Collins, or Wojo fight to see who gets to be the knight in shining armor.

I expect Mizzou to make the tourney because of a good team and weak conference. I don't expect them to do much in the tourney though.

I would expect them to get a 3/4 seed in tourney and win one or two games.

Duke may be a machine under K, but have you ever seen a program on top in any college sport have a seamless transition to stay on the top? I am 35 and I don't recall any program stay on top after a legend retires.

For Duke Jeff Capel is K's replacement and I don't think anybody else gets it unless they decide to go outside the program but I don't see that happening.

Really? I kind of have a hard time believing that. He failed at OU with his only success being with Blake Griffin. I see a number of possibilities that will have far greater resumes and also have Duke ties.

Agree.  There may be a halo effect for a year or 2 depending upon what's left in the cupboard but that'll be all unless the next coach can perform near miracles.  I still remember poor Gene Bartow trying to fill John Wooden's shoes at UCLA.  Wonder if Gary Cunningham left UCLA because he knew what the pressure would be like if he stayed and they named him head coach.  As I remember, the job would clearly have been his had he stuck around.  [Man, I hope my memory is accurate on that!]
