schoosier Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Double OT Maryland vs Mich St. Two telling statements. 1. Dickie V and other announcer stating how both coaches really working the officials. Coaches doing their best to win. 2. Turgeon getting T'd up with 50 secoinds left in regulation. His team was getting hosed and he let the officials know it, which has helped him get late calls. Its a thing of beauty watching two great coaches go at it knowing how important this really is. Just an awesome game! Maryland going to win afterall; big W. IUsafety and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Maryland fought hard. Deserve this win. Weakest IZZO team ever or in a very long time. They will love Eron Harris next season and Deyonta Davis. Quote

Ranger78 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 LOL - Izzo flat out lost that game. He calls a time out on a clear break away lay up and does not have them foul up by 3... And Crean still gets a backwards slap down and he's not even coaching. Funny. Quote
Hovadipo Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I watched Groce call TO after TO to slow Michigan's run, it didn't help. But timeouts are mystical spells that automatically win games if your coach calls them.... Hutch89, Parakeet Jones, HoosierHoops1 and 3 others 6 Quote

I bet Izzo still thumps us at home though. Quote

Surprisingly bad mistakes.Yes leaving the one player in cost him two big turnovers plus losing Harris and their big man really hurts them. Maryland with one loss looks to win easilly, but Izzo has Mich St in a position to win. Now watching UF and Donovan vs a good FSU team. Basketball is great when you have awesome teams being complimented by worthy coaching. Interested in seeing Donovan's halftime adjustments. We can only hope. How about Dayton vs Virginia at #3? Archie Miller is a star in the making. If you want to go the up and comer route, he would be in my top 3 next to Marshall and Hoiberg. Lots of great coaches out there that would love to rep the candy stripes. Quote

Hovadipo Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 You still have to run a play coming out of them or in our perspective, inbounds the ball first. I agree. I was just commenting on how some thought that we lost the GTown game simply because Crean didn't call a timeout when they went on a run. The timeout needs to be productive to be effective. Would it have been? Who knows? Ranger78 1 Quote
schoosier Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Just heard Harbaugh gave the halftime speech for Mich. They turn it around and beat illi. And some of you thought it was funny when I said to bring him here to coach basketball. Quote

Would it have been? Who knows?Crean waited until our 10 point lead dwindled to three after a missed 3 would have tied it. He was a day late and dollar short. Maybe when it got to six it may have mattered but without Yogis 2 threes at the end of reg, it really wasn't close. Quote
Ranger78 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I would also argue that you don't get a tech called on you in overtime, which might have ended up costing you the game with two made FT's. Turgeon was clearly pissed and it had nothing to do with a strategic move to get calls. With that said, I thought he did a great coaching job and Maryland plays with a lot of heart. Quote
OliviaPope40 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I wonder if Harbaugh gave Jeff Meyer a dirty look. Quote
Ranger78 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I heard he flushed Meyers head in the locker room prior to giving the speech. (Some heard him say clap on that Jeff).... Quote
Hovadipo Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Florida just lost to Florida State on an "own goal" buzzer beater. Will post video when available. Mind blowing. BubbleKnuts, Walking Boot of Doom, Hutch89 and 2 others 5 Quote
