AKHoosier Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Why is DePaul considered such a tough job? Seems like its access to Chicago talent and being in the new Big East would be a good sell. But, I know nothing about the program or its history. Quote

They were a decent draw back in the day when they played on WGN almost every night. Just not much visibility for them now. Not a ton of resources. Doesn't help that they play off-campus on the opposite side of town. AKHoosier 1 Quote

The program really tailed off from there. Joey Meyer tried to inherit but failed miserably. Quote

They brought in Pat Kennedy and he recruited extremely well. Guys like Quenton Richardson, Bobby Simmons, etc were legit 5 stars, just couldn't win. Haven't made the tournament in 20 years. Really seems like a dead end job. They really need a Chicago guy who can sell not only the school, but the city. Northwestern and Loyola both being good these last 5 years doesn't really help. Quote

My late father and late mother got their masters from IU. I attended IUPUI for 2 years as an IU undergrad. My ex mother-in-law and father-in-law's best man was Ron Felling. I hear the "everyone who lives in Terre Haute should be Sycamore fans. It's where you live. I disagree. I've worked in other states. Just because their job is there doesn't mean they root for the hometown team. Not their school. Just because they live in the city doesn't mean they have to support the local team. Now, can it be fun to jump on board? Sure! But to be pressured to follow the local. Team, because you live there? Nah, man. Support your team. Long rant. May or may not be Maker's Mark induced. but, don't sleep on the Sycamores! Sent from my SM-G986U using BtownBanners mobile app I follow you. Most of the people up north here are Michigan and Purdue fan's. I get following an in state team but rooting for a state school which you have never lived in or attended its kind of bizarre to me. Just my opinion though. Quote

Latest I saw was 39% down to 33% this year. Portal is changing all kinds of things. Stated in tweet but this is ranked vs non-ranked top 10. I don't think it's just the portal but also the extra COVID year. Ngw7183 1 Quote

Seems more and more that ranked teams just get the hell beat out of them on the road and refs really swallow their whistles in those games. Quote

Demo Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 If he’s right and that $hitshow would interest Hurley, DePaul needs to just do it and call it a day. Schertz will get better opportunities. Home Jersey, Rico and OliviaPope40 3 Quote

Rico Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Somewhere out there another Pat Kennedy awaits for DePaul. Quote

They have unbalanced schedules now. It will be the top 15 teams of the B1G scheduled games. I don’t agree with it I think every team should have a chance and more basketball is never a bad thing in my book. Some smaller conferences don’t allow all participants in their conference tourney. Pretty sure the MAC is that way but would have to look it up Ryno6284 1 Quote
