Romeo was an extreme example. A better example would be a kid torn between his hometown team and a big time program.

So let's say instead of Romeo it's a guard in the 75-100 range. Would a coach in any Power 5 conference risk their monster salary for whatever the booster thinks a low 4 star guard is worth? I think any coach would go get that guard.

In the worst case scenario, someone finds out about the arrangement. The coach is fired with cause (no buyout) and never coaches again. In the best case scenario, the coach accepts some booster cash from an opposing booster to stay away from a talented (but not exceptional) player. This player would almost certainly win games for the coach and his team over a 4 year period, increasing the odds the coach receives an extension/raise or at least decreasing the odds that he's fired.

Fun to think about but I just don't think it's ever something that would happen. The risk of career ending scandal is too high.

To answer your question directly, I can't imagine it's an NCAA violation because it's not something the NCAA would be worried about. It's almost certainly a violation of the coach's contract though.

Last year there were no clear "elite" teams. This year I would say there are several. Duke and pUKe have elite classes and pUKe has a couple returning talents as well. Gonzaga, Kansas and Nevada are also stacked.

I'd throw Tennessee in that mix as well. Basically, return their top 6 and two of those guys have NBA potential. UK, KU, Nevada, Zags and Tenn return a lot. Don't see that too often these days. I'm not as high on Duke since the all freshman thing never seems to work that great when it comes to tourney but no doubt they have the talent to be top 4.

Next year will be very top heavy. My top 5...

1) Kansas

2) pUKe

3) Nevada

4) Gonzaga

5) Duke

I hate our society sometimes. We rarely own up to our wrongdoings, are quick to see faults in others, and never do wrong ourselves.

Not one of those players knew anything about the scandal? Not one of them tried to stop it? How can you call the NCAA morally depleted when your team/program has been involved with so many morally deficient issues recently?

Once upon a time I got "arrested" for underage consumption. I met with my lawyer to figure out what to do. While going over the procedure in being "arrested" he thought the police screwed up. He was 90% sure he could get me out of the whole mess. He was shocked when I told him I did the crime so I should do the time (alcohol class and 6 months "probation").

UL/players were breaking rules when they won a title; therefore, the title is vacated. What is difficult to understand about that?

I'm 70, and that sounds like something my dad would have said to me.

It get's worse every generation, in the last 5 I see it clearly.

Work ethic, responsibility, self-reliance and personal responsibility are all fading, in general.

That is nonsense. The baby boomers were spoiled and had it easy. Job security is worse and healthcare, housing, and college are way more expensive for millennials.

What does that have to do with the 4 things I listed?

Well, millenials have to be even more responsible and self reliant given the current state of affairs. Boomers had strong unions, cheap gas, cheap education, cheap education, little foreign competition economically, and strong job security.

Thanks for the response, but I think we're better off moving back to hoops.

Basically impossible nowadays.

Stop being lazy and just work a part-time job in the summer to pay for school!

How much do you think college costs? Talk about out of touch. What the hell makes you think young people don’t work jobs to help pay for school? I worked every summer and it covered the cost of my textbooks.

I think that was sarcasm

You take a typical boomer pot shot at millennials, and then want to abandon the conversation once you got called out for it.

I'm not a boomer and didn't say anything directed at millennials, but you KNOW EXACTLY who matches best, so you brought them up.

I knew this conversation would just deteriorate, so I intended to end my part and move back to basketball, but your feels got triggered so you had to comment anyway.

I was joking man. That's just one of my favorite lines I hear older people say when they're criticizing millennials because it shows a complete lack of awareness.

My favorite was to go to the company don’t just go online. The personal touch matters.

Current job I got from a recruiter that found my resume online

Maybe 30 years ago lol
