Sports Illustrated currently has Zach Edey mocked to be the 55th overall pick in the 2023 draft.  I understand the NBA game is completely changed and that there is such a de-emphasis on big men, but it would seem that a good coach could certainly find spots to produce situational mismatches with Edey in.  Seems to me that he's worth more than a borderline not getting drafted grade.

Was just looking at that same mock draft myself.  Maybe I'm trying to speak it into existence because I'm tired of seeing him at Purdue but If Tacko Fall and Boban Marjanovic can make NBA rosters then Zach Edey certainly can.  If he keeps putting up 30 + points in big ten games I think a team will get enamored with his uniqueness and may grab him early 2nd round or so, especially if it's a team that plays a little slower and uses more drop coverage defensively.

It’s really a strange Phenomenon going on.  He’s pretty much unguardable. Impacts the game on both ends.  Plays big minutes.  Smart. Hustles. Can hit free throws. And a team isn’t smart or creative enough to covet a player that impacts play more than anyone in the country.  He’s basically Yao Ming.

It is pretty rare a big comes along that impacts the game as much as he does.......and nobody in the NBA wants him.  How many 6'7" athletes can the league draft.

You can thank Hunter Dickenson picking Michigan over Purdue and Ryan Kalkbrenner picking Creighton over Purdue for Edey being at Purdue.   Watching the Journey on him they missed out on their top targets and had to go to plan c.  Worked out for them

How will Oates handle Miles? That may be interesting to watch play out and what did Miles know about what was going on is the big question.

I mean, he didn't shoot the girl, but he was there and it was his gun. I'm pretty sure he's going to prison.

I didn't realize that he was there, that changes everything with him. I would say he is going to prison also. Is he still on the team?

Nope. Pretty much immediately released as soon as he was cuffed. Bama did everything they could do here, it seems.

If you want to go way back you can blame RMK for not signing Painter instead of Leary. If Painter went to IU then he wouldn't be coaching at Purdue. Everybody knows that Painter's family was a huge IU fan and Painter wanted to go to IU

Miles was already ruled out for the remainder of the season because of injury before the shooting.

So, scouting? 3 of the better players in college basketball. Agree.

Scouting is a big part of it.   Yeah I would say  they are 3 of the better bigs in college. It’s why coaches get paid the big bucks and are smart enough to not put their eggs in one basket and shows the luck of it sometimes.   They were not considering someone like Edey until they had to.
