You can hate him and everyone knows he's a tool but he's not wrong...these "metrics" and "quadrants" created by these people are ridiculous. And because of this system, Auburn, Clemson, Cincinnati, and Texas Tech are all better than Michigan State?? If you put MSU vs any of those schools, who are you picking?? MSU because we watch basketball and know they're better. Upsets happen but MSU IS better than those teams hands down...in both talent and coaching...Auburn had more quadrant 2 wins so they're clearly better!!! Joke.

Yeah the quadrants are a joke.  Gary Parrish was talking about the quadrants and as it stands right now, a home win against Duke is just as good as a win against Wyoming on the road.

Those are both quadrant 1 wins.

I got into a twitter conversation with David warlock(media coordinator) and he says the committee definitely doesn’t look at all wins in each Quadrant as equal. Some will be viewed better then others. That was a big question that many of us in the bracketology world had for committee

No, but I would want them to acknowledge that not all Quadrant 1 wins are equal.
Rob Dauster

Most definitely they are not. No different than top 50 wins not being created equally in the previous sorting of the team sheets.
David Warlock
This was his response to on Twitter to some asking him

This is more a general issue I have rather than specific to quadrant wins.

How much better is a win over the RPI 50th team than the RPI 51st team? Yet, it goes into a different quadrant?

If I'm going 30 over the speed limit it's a huge fine. If I'm going 29 over the speed limit it's not bad but not a huge fine.

It was like that with the old system as well. Each committee member will have their own view on the subject. This is why when your in a room with different individuals that have viewpoints it becomes tricky on the last couple hours of deciding the end of the at-large teams. At least they acknowledged that not all quad 1 wins just like in the old system not all top 50 wins are created equal.

I think my biggest issue is wins and losses throughout the year and their effect on your “quadrant” wins. When we beat Notre Dame they were easily a top 25 team. Colson goes down and that win isn’t worth a damn. We aren’t playing mid February Notre Dame. We are playing mid December Notre Dame. I know they have to quantify wins, but there needs to be some common sense applied. It doesn’t mean anything to us this year, but there are teams that it will help/hurt.

They will. Teams that beat Notre Dame with a full roster will get viewed with a better win then their record will show. Someone will also point out that a full roster Notre Dame team lost to Ball St at home.

While there is no set rule on how to view teams with injuries history shows that if IU was on the bubble that Notre Dame win would be taken into consideration by most of the committee

Thats fine, but we beat them on a neutral court when they would have been a quadrant 1 win. Our record will not indicate that. At that point they were still very good in spite of losing to Ball St. A lot of very good teams have lost to very bad teams this year. It happens.

I believe that if we were on the bubble that win would still be viewed as a quad 1 win by the committee. It might not matter if colson comes back and they make a run they only need to move up 18 spots in rpi to get back to a quad 1 win

I will pose this question to you since you are definitely most knowledgeable on this subject. What does iu have to do in your mind to get on the bubble. Win till big championship game or is that not enough
