I'm sorry but Dakich is 100% BSing right now. His kid only had a scholarship for one semester and he's trying to say he got a $30k living stipend... Michigan isn't giving out $60k stipends to their players each year. Within the past couple years the NCAA decided to let schools give out stipends to help cover the total cost of attendance for school. Michigan estimates their total COA at around $62k. They give their players around $2,000 in extra stipend money after they give them money for tuition and room/board. Dan was likely talking about the $30k in reference to the amount of money that his kid got for school, and by "account" he probably meant his kid's bursar account.

If you go back and read his tweets from the very beginning he's using dollar amounts to describe how much the scholarship a player receives is worth. For example, in one he said "NCAA..only place 18-24 yr old Athletes make $20,000 to $60,000 for 20 hr a week work only 8 hrs work in the summer months and r "exploited"" He's talking about the worth of the scholarship, which varies depending on where the player is from.

When he talks about the "check" players get every month he's talking about the rent check. If they live off campus, and say the price for room and board on campus is $10k, then they get paid that $10k in 12 monthly payments to cover their rent and food. Nowadays the players get a few thousand extra each year for "miscellaneous" expenses, which the NCAA calls their living stipend.

Anyways, to end this lengthy post I don't doubt for a second that Michigan paid Andrew Dakich $30k. That's the amount that his one semester scholarship was worth, but he wasn't given a $30k living stipend check like Dakich is trying to make it seem. He wants to draw attention to himself, like usual.

Yet Dakich ignores that these 13 athletes are responsible for 10's of millions in revenue.

I think both sides profit of each other to be honest. Players get free access to state of the art facilities and medical care. They also get to market themselves in a future of basketball or another career. That is invaluable. Schools of course market their current teams to purchase state of art healthcare and facilities. As well as pay for staffing throughout the athletic department. They of course pay for scholarships, living, clothing, and food. As well as travel and lodging to games at away venues. The "profit" isn't what most people would assume when you are dealing with athletes from 24 programs. Again, I wouldn't complain if athletes got more money, but they would **** themselves if they had to pay for all of the free things they get.

This pretty much sums up how I feel. I'm perfectly fine with players getting more money but at the same time theyre getting someone that other students would kill for. If you forced them to pay their own way and just paid them then they wouldnt like the idea of getting paid anymore.

Letting players profit off their likeness is a good solution, in my opinion. Players like Andrew Dakich aren't bringing in the millions of dollars to the program. Let the free market dictate the individual worth of the player. Continue providing the free schooling and housing and food, and call it a day.

I think the odds makers understand that we had all the talent in the world last year to compete.  Hell we beat the National Champs for gods sakes.  We just lacked fundamentals which is something Archie will give us.

I think the odds makers have a good idea of where to find a lot of suckers willing to bet way more money than they should (see us, UK, Duke, Louisville fans, etc.)

If that's what they are doing then they will pay out the butt when the team they have underrated wins it

Many people don't agree with me, but I think there's a place in the league for Swanigan. I love that guy as a player.

He's a great college player, no doubt. I think he can carve out a decent niche in the league, but he will have to be drafted by the right team for that to happen. He's undersized and not overly quick or athletic for his position. He will have to make his living as a mid-range shooter and overwork people down low. He could be Zac Randolph light at his best, IMO.

Not an NBA player at all. Too slow to play the 4/5 in today's league. He'd be a role player at best.

He's basically another Tyler Hansbourgh

I thought Zach Randolph would be a closer comparison honestly. Same body type and game. I have watched them both up close many times and I don't see Hansbrough. Swanigan can at least work outside of 8 feet consistently if need be.
