We're better than Michigan. I have no idea how they're ranked

We're very similar personnel wise. Very guard heavy (Irvin, Walton, Albrecht vs. Yogi, Jimbo, Rob, Z, Stan) with an athletic wing (Levert vs. Troy). I give us the advantage by a wide margin in the guard department. Levert is better than Troy. Front court is a toss up really. I think we're overall definitely better too.

Fairly new program I think. They went 13-14 last year. At one point like 5 years ago they had the longest losing streak in the country, but they've started turning it around. Only independent left in the nation.

Btw 72-70 NJIT wins.

Whoever UK plays is an underdog. There are plenty of coaches who can out coach Cal throughout the game, but the team itself, within the coaching plan, has to have skill, chemistry and intellect of the game. There's where the 7 All Americans come in handy.

Wow---the first time NJIT ever played a ranked team and beat Michigan at Michigan fresh off Michigan's win over Syracuse.  That smarts!

 

Happy for NJIT---they out-hustled UM and deserved to win.

 

Goes to show things like Eastern Washington happen when the better teams don't play with intensity.

 

Like LaVert of UM --Yogi tried to carry IU but it was not enough against the lesser team.

I agree. Belein getting the love based on past years but they are just as young and matadorish on defense as we are----and I actually think we are better inside then they are.

 

I also would take our guards over the UM guards any day of the week.

After watching several Big Ten games----I am sticking with my preseason thoughts---no reason we can't play with and/or beat any of them on a given night.  We just have to keep improving our D and inside play.

It isn't a perfect example, but he seems similar to Vic, at least coming out of high school though a bit bigger. Not very heralded, known as an athlete. He hasn't seen a spike in shooting percentage like Vic did, but has shot the 3 ball well for over a year now. Also love how low his turnovers and turnover percentage is despite a high usage rate

All kidding aside--Belein has done a good job with UM's program.  Glad Crean can consistently beat his teams.
