Stan and Troy suspended for failed drug tests..

Recommended Posts

Not to stir things up, but after reading that article we have Crean touting that he's being tougher by extending Tory/Stan's suspensions an extra game (to 4), yet Troy's Mom tells us she was told in the summer Troy was suspended 3 games, as the exhibitions only count as half a game.

I smell a little PR spin going on her, which is not what is needed right now.

I brought this up earlier. It was my first thought. Not enough info to say for sure.

Either way, we rally, compete, and let the chips fall where they may.

It's one thing to say they are in trouble for violating team rules and quite another to specifically say they failed drug tests.

It has the smell of someone disgruntled inside the program trying to hurt Crean and/or the team.

The specifics of violations are none of our business----that's for the Coaches and Administration to handle.  I am not condoning the players' violations in any manner and they deserve punishment---but I can certainly understand why parents and others would be upset that info like this was leaked to the media. Could be the beginning of the end for Crean if he does not properly address the violations ......and the mole.

Would've just been "focus issues" if there wasn't a leaker inside..looking at you bball4iu. :)

Haha I had an idea that it had happened this summer but it was a well kept secret..someone closer than me must have let that one out. I have no credibility with the media anyway..no one knows who I am lol

This has been done in the past and the number of games suspended typically reveal what the punishment is for. I know folks looked at this last year with Hollowells suspension.

As fans, alumni and supporters, do we have a right to know the details? Does the university/staff releasing this information help or hurt?

Suppose for a moment that all that has happened (Holt/Davis alcohol thing and the failed drug tests by Stan and Troy) had not become common knowledge. It’s a stretch, I know, but play along for a moment. So Crean metes out the punishment - a 4 game suspension for each.

The team takes the floor tonight for Northwood, and we see these four players missing and/or in street clothes. What kind of questions does that raise? The administration stonewalls and refused to make any comment. Now it’s Monday and the next exhibition game time. Again, these players are not dressed to play... and so on.

At what point does "full disclosure" become necessary from the point of damage control?

I’m curious about what the general consensus is.

To me, the cover up is a huge part of the problem. I have no idea what the rules are in terms of what the university can disclose, but covering up for these kids does NOT help the kids. Part of accepting responsibility is facing the media and explaining why you let your school, teammates, coaches and fans down.
