Conclusions from HH

Recommended Posts

1. I am very nervous that Hanner hasn't become the player we had hoped. We will be a great shooting team but we are going to get destroyed down low if we don't play team defense.

2. Nick Zeisloft will be an X factor in all of our games in various ways. I feel so much better knowing we have that leadership.

3. The hype is real for RoJo and Blackmon. Solid

4. Holt doesn't play like a Freshman. Seems to have a great basketball IQ

5. We are going to run and if we can cut down on turnovers, watch out.

6. Yogi is a stud. No surprise there. He was taking liberties with the long ball

7. This season is the biggest "who knows" season of IU basketball since Cody's frosh year.

8. We probably aren't getting Bryant

Hanner still looked a bit shaky on offense but was able to get his hands on a lot of balls and put them in the bucket. I thought his defense was great. He had a few really good blocks. Its going to come slowly but surely.
Last year we really struggled to score, and that will NOT be a problem this year. I think this team will be a great defensive team as well.
When it comes down to it, it was only a scrimmage yesterday. Crean also said that the team has yet to scrimmage for that long of a period of time. I have good feelings about this year

My pair of crimson shaded glasses got an extra coat of crimson last night. I think we're going to surprise a ton of people this year. Jimbo is nuts, Yogi is improved even more, Hanner is competent, and everyone else has improved in their own ways. 11. More. Days.

I think it's a blessing in disguise that the "experts" have predicted us to finish so low in the Big 10.  Takes a lot of pressure off the team in the early part of the conference schedule and IMHO we're gonna kick some ass this year and surprise a lot of 'experts'.

Agreed. Plus Crean coaches/motivates well from the underdog role. I'm not predicting a top 3 B1G finish, but 9 would probably crush my hopes and dreams and I just really don't see it happening.

I took my two young sons to their first HH experience yesterday. We had a great time. It really is a good family event. One thing I kindof scratched my head about afterwards, though was the Sage Steele & Tom Crean interview. Sage asked Crean about the character of the kids he has recruited to IU and it seemed to me he got fairly defensive...something to the effect that he was ready to watch the players, etc. Was I the only one that found this exchange awkward?

We are gonna be a Crean Indiana team. We will beat ranked teams. And probably lose to our rivals/lower conference opponents. We all know that

I wasn't there but have heard this exact exchange come up multiple times. Crean is a different dude, no doubt about that.

I don't know about everyone else, but I found Sage Steele to be really awkward in general. Her interviews with the players were awkward. I brought my wife along to the event and she said the same thing. She just didn't ask very good questions or asked obvious ones.

I'm still a little concerned about Hanners hands. He had a wide open reverse dunk and the ball spun out on his way up.Saw lots of that last year.Davis looks more polished and stronger.Holt's going to have to play.

I went to HH and I remember commenting to my wife that it was a dumb question after an offseason that saw 3 transfers and 2 arrests for alcohol.  I think Coach handled it pretty well, he answered it in a Political sort of way but Sage should have never asked him that question.  I don't think she meant anything by it, but she has a habit of just rambling when she's got the mic.  At one point she nearly starting crying when she was talking about her 5 years at IU during the early 90's.

She was rambling a bit but man did she look good doing it!
