Pulse of IUBB with Shake and OG

The reason I ask is I don't know my own answer to be honest. I like Shake better slightly as a recruit but OG may have more upside. Lately, I am leaning towards rooting for BOTH and letting Crean figure the rest out.

Shake because I think he is a very good 3+ year PG with size. He could potentially spend a year behind Yogi learning from one of the best if he committed. OG looks like a freak athlete and Crean has a proven track record developing guards, so I'd be excited about him as well.

I'm with you Wayne. I'd take either/both, I think both have the chance to be good, but I won't be too upset either if we lose one or both either. While they're both good, I don't think either is a program changer or so done that isn't replaceable.

I want both--- but think it's OG to IU--Shake to Oklahoma.

 

Rationale--On OG:  OG canceled rest of his visits after he visited IU--and Georgia and Iowa have recent commits from players similar to him. And IU is the basketball school of the three and who would not want to be compared with Vic and dream of playing at the next level! Also as soon as Shake set his announcement--OG jumped in front of his date. 

 

Rationale--On Shake:  I thought we had him and still think we did after his visit---but too much time passed and the locals got to him.  The reason I believe this is all the recent IU chatter down here in Southern Indiana that IU has reached out to Jaquan Lyle and he has been invited to Hysteria. Shake and Lyle are almost identical guards in height and want to play pg---just don't think this is coincidence unless all the chatter is false.  Still not sure IU would take Lyle but it's certainly likely they are after him because they know Shake is not coming.

  Well we'll know the answer to half  that question tomorrow night and I believe that the other half will be answered as well.

As far as the third option I say no way we don't get one.

 With all the talk about Lyle I have a question.Will he be a 15 recruit and go juco this year or what?

I'm thinking OG his upside is way to high, I would take Shake also just think he doesn't want to wait for playing time IU has a lot of guards ahead of him already on this team. ps stay away from Lyle

Neither. Make a big impression on Bryant and hope for him. Go point guard in '16 when the options are better.

Being from southern Indiana seen Lyle play a few times one of the best guards this area has ever had , however needs to clear his head maybe Juco is the answer for now.

Shake made some sense. Honestly, I can't really get behind this impending OG commitment. That isn't to say I won't support him but it just isn't making a ton of sense in my mind at this point.

I think OG is to add another true wing with athleticism. In the mold of a TWill. Less athleticism, better shooter? Tom loves 6'6"-6-8" players.

Question is:

Troy, Holt, Juwan, DD, OG? Lots of guys in the 3-4 slot.

Same can be said for Shake at guard.

On another note, CB is on a roll for VT for Chris Clarke.

Me and CCG sang his praises this summer. Wonder why we never made a push. This kid plays so hard. Reminds of Moye in that respect.

As threes go i would say Troy and OG fit the bill.Holt and DD not so much.

Current roster combined with reviews from people who have seen him. I have not seen him but don't put much into highlight films. I guess I don't buy into the insurance policy for TW when you're already oversigned by 1. I can see taking a big, I can see taking a PG. Adding to the 3/4 spot seems like something you would do if the kid was a very special talent.

 

Like I said on here before, I have no moral issue with the oversign so I'm not trying to get into that - but it does come up in living rooms so I can see it hurting IU's recruiting efforts going forward. 

 

Crean's going to manage his roster however he pleases, and I know he wants OG bad. Here to hoping he is right on this one!

From the recruiting----it feels like there is a real possibility Troy is gone after this year. We will have to see how his game developed after shooting 10,000 3 pointers and working hard in the off-season!.

Just curious if you were in the same position, insider connections and attentiveness to recruiting, when Vic was being recruited and what your impression was then. This is OT, I'm honestly just curious.

What have you heard from people who have seen him?
I've just heard from a lot of sources that he is legit. Iowa and Gonzaga are good ball teams that win games, I think if they are recruiting them, it says something as well
