Hoosierfan2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Great deal for the Cavs. That draft is going to be loaded. Crowder gives depth at sf and another body to put on KD. Quote

He was actually a more efficient scorer than kyrie last year with defenses focusing on him. reconmkd 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Kyrie is amazing but he is a PG that likes to shoot and dominate the ball. I don't believe he is a team first player. I love his skillset but didn't like his contributions to winning, including on D.This is a really good trade for Cleveland on the court. Crowder is the type of front court player Cleveland needs too. Essentially this is a one year go at a title before him and Lebron leave. Cavs get a top pick. Not a bad deal. Defensively Thomas has to be one of if not the worst defender in the league. barrettballer Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Celtics kinda got robbed on this one imo. But it's fine with me cause they've been trying to rob teams for yearsSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

I don't think ITs game will age well, I'd be nervous about maxing him. Cavs won this trade tho for sure. WayneFleekHoosier, mdn82 and reconmkd 3 Quote

If the Celtics didn't include the pick or found a way to protect it, which more than likely would have kept it with the Celtics given any protection, then they would have made off like bandits in this deal. IT is probably the most overrated player in the NBA. Crowder is a plus role player, and Zizic sucked during summer league at all the stuff he was suppose to be good at. Gettint Doncic or Porter is gonna fast forward a rebuild. Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Eh, IT4 benefited from playing in one of the largest markets, and ESPN loves that market so they tailor themselves to that target. Dude is truly horrible defensively, he doesn't really distribute the ball and his size limits him everywhere else. This guy was doing this type of stuff in Sacramento and no one cared. He had an amazing season, but his season was overblown. reconmkd 1 Quote
BGleas Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 As a Celtics fan I think this trade is a win-win for both teams. Yes, the Celtics gave up more than others have for stars, but Kyrie is also just 25 with two years at a good price left, and IT (who I love) is almost 30, has a bad hip, needs to be maxed next summer and as much as I love him he was exposed a bit in the playoffs. Teams figure IT out over 7 games. I hated to give up the Brooklyn pick, but Brooklyn could actually be slightly lower with how bad the East is and them adding Russell, Crabbe and Carroll. Also, the Celtics get the Lakers pick if it falls between 2-5 (It turns in Sacramento's 2019 if it's not in that range) so could actually still end up with a better pick than Cleveland gets. Lakers have a little more talent than Brooklyn but play a tougher schedule. VeevlandBrowns, mdn82 and WayneFleekHoosier 3 Quote

Crimson and Cream Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 So they wouldn't give that pick up for Butler or PG but they give the pick, IT, and Crowder up for Irving??? Lol this is what Boston deserves, Ainge is such a moron. Hoosierfan2017 1 Quote

As far as Butler, the C's were targeting Hayward in free agency, so it's basically getting Irving and Hayward vs. just Butler. thebigweave 1 Quote

They wouldn't have had the cap space for Hayward after trading for Butler, and with Butler on board Hayward probably doesn't come. As much as I love IT, and I actually am not a huge Kyrie fan, Kyrie is an upgrade when you take everything into account (age, contract status, etc.). The Celtics had a big IT issue looming. Again I like IT, but are you giving a 5'9, 30 year old point guard a Max extension next summer? Now the C's have at least two years of a younger, more talented player. Quote

Hoosierfan2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Maybe I'm just blinded by my Lebron fandom, but I think Boston got worse this summer and Cleveland got better. IT can actually run an offense with Lebron off the court unlike Kyrie, and now they have depth at the sf position to cut down Lebron's minutes. IT was actually a more efficient scorer than Kyrie last year. Then there's the Brooklyn pick which could be flipped for a disgruntled star (maybe Cousins) later on in the season. Adding Cousins would be a massive help against Golden State, or they keep it and have a shot at Bagley/Porter. Boston lost their two best perimeter defenders in Crowder and Bradley this summer, and they lose IT too. They were this tough, gritty team and now they're not. Kyrie is a phenomenal offensive talent but he plays zero defense. Boston has a mini "Big 3" in Kyrie/Hayward/Horford but none of those guys are a #1 guy on a championship contending team. Quote

They also have two top three picks in the last two seasons that are going to be as good if not better than Bradley and Crowder. There is a reason Ainge gave them up. Until he proves me wrong with trades I give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought where Cleveland did good was that pick. They had to make the contracts comparable to make trade happen. Crowder was going to lose PT. IT is no Kyrie and is coming off a serious hip injury at almost 30 while being 5'9". Any explosiveness he loses is essentially his only chance at being effective. This was a trade more for that pick when the rebuild starts. Good trade that I think makes sense for both teams.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Hoosierfan2017 and BGleas 2 Quote
VeevlandBrowns Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 (edited) I really think it makes sense for both. Boston building on Hayward, Irving, Tatum, and future picks. Cavs get rid of a guy that wanted out. Got IT, a good defender in Crowder, and the Nets unprotected pick. I can see it from both angles.
