Does anyone know if Emmit was a Chuck Martin get/find?

Yep!  Chuck's our guy!

"Vermont Academy coach Alexander Popp, who confirmed the commitment, had earlier said Holt's relationship with Indiana began with new assistant coach Chuck Martin, "

I think the signing of Holt, Priller, and April, shows a bit of desperation by Crean. This is juts my opinion. But I think Crean knows last year what we lacked was depth. I really think he knows that if this year goes wrong, he's on a very very hot seat. He's throwing everything and everyone he can at the program to make the tournament until he can get the squad he needs like the one in 2012-2013. I could be wrong, but these additions have me scratching my head some times. Then again, maybe what he wants is players coming in and staying 3-4 years like he previously had and building chemistry. I hope Holt proves to be someone who's willing to battle every single day, no matter his playing time or role at IU

youve got me thinking now, i guess i just saw him adding this guy because we needed somebody big bad, because lets face it hanner is just a shot in the dark sometimes. I would say im more excited for this years team, i just hope having these shooters proves to help out.

The addition certainly helps no doubt about it. But these late moves that jeopardize next year's recruiting class just seem unorthodox for Crean.

ya you could be right, it does seem a few of the guys weve brought in are kind of desperate moves. I just think ctc is doing all he can to keep his job lol.

What?  He's the oversign machine.  He knows he can get multiple recruits for next year's class.  It's his MO

I am very happy with the committment of Emmitt Holt and I think he'll get an opportunity to play for this team in 2015. 7'3" wingspan is crazy, how awesome would it be to grow another inch or two...? I'd like to see him standing side by side to Devin Davis and see how close in size they are. Both seem to be in that undersized power forward range, but sometimes in College Basketball those kinda guys are the ones that battle harder than anyone else on the court, because they got to. Remember a guy named Kenneth Farried, who played at Morehead St. and is now in the NBA, he has the same kinda frame and size, heck AJ Moye played down low for us, out of necessity, and he was only 6'2". So at 6'7" and some good hands, and good on the boards, well I'll take it!

Jerry Meyer magically ranked him today. He comes in at 187, 3 star, 5th best player in New York.

The twitter talk is pretty good overall.

i believe he had Ray Kasongo at 232.  Seems like maybe we came out ahead in all of this.

The more I read, the more I like the signing.

I agree. I actually like Kasongo though, minus the DRAMA. I wonder if Meyer will adjust ratings with all the high major interest Kasongo has received.

Either way, I am happy with Holt. Seems like he has the right attitude!
Crazy how the NBA developments impact how some look at Coach... if you keep Cody or Victor, and Noah this year that's 3 straight years in the top five/ten...
To be fair Crean is compared to other coaches at Big programs. Those coaches also lose kids to the NBA and transfer. Sure we would have been incredible had Cody, Vic and Noah stayed longer but that is hardly exclusive to Indiana.
