I don't know about an extension, but in the NFL.com article about the Pagano extension it said Grigson is staying according to Rapoport.

I know that he is staying too. I was referring to the comments that they extended Grigson too. Not really sure what you're trying to point out to me.

Need to keep Irsay from meddling with GM work and need to keep Grigson from trying to be a coach and the reevaluate

I think @GaryBrackett58 's theory was right: Irsay knows he, himself, meddled too much on personnel to let Grigson take all the blame.

Sadly, I went through this last fall as a Detroit Tigers fan. With about three weeks left in a lost season, mlive.com leaked that Brad Ausmus would be fired as the Tigers manager when their season ended. The Tigers then did the usual damage control "we haven't decided yet" announcement, then when the season ended, announced he was staying.

I used to take pride in the fact that the Colts didn't operate like the Redskins, Lions or Browns. Sadly, they're starting to trend strongly in that direction. Today was a colossal embarrassment.

Colts apparently talked to Sean Payton prior to extended Pagano. Have to wonder if the price was too high and they decided to just stick it out.

Doesn't explain Grigson though. Thanks for keeping him around so we can't accidentally hire him.

Two guys with *alleged* prescription pill problems in one organization would've been interesting to follow.

Odd that both were given extensions.  No way they would have given Pagano one if Grigson's job was safe.  He must have been on the chopping block too, and Irsay said it's both or neither.  Hopefully they cleared the air and can work together.

It looks like maybe Pagano has been given authority to hire and fire assistant coaches with all the movement that's happened.  I'm happy that all are gone except safeties coach Roy Anderson.  We've had some great play out of our safeties during his time.

Side note, who do we root for in the playoffs now?  I've always liked to cheer for the one who put you out of the playoffs, somehow that makes me feel better about losing to another team.  So maybe go Texans?

I am going for Cardinals in NFC because of Arians. Going for anyone not named Patriots in AFC. ANYONE!

Cardinals should win the NFC. They have everything going for them this year and are definitely a super bowl team. Heck, but for Palmer's injury last year they already were and fixed some weaknesses this year. Despite being a division rival I am pulling for them.

Bruce Arians, Dwight Freeney, Cory Redding, Tom Moore all within the organization right now. This is also the team that Edgerrin James finished his career with. I guess I could get on that train. Go old Colts!
