(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the update Pap. I wish the NCAA would do something to compensate families for travel.

Doesn't even have to be the NCAA. Schools can afford it. They just need the go-ahead. It's complete BS.

Pretty sure if Crean wanted to sign a class of 13 in the 2015 class he could. He would just have to show (not sure if it's to the NCAA or Big Ten) a plan/roadmap for how he anticipates having the openings.

yea that is my point although I think technically Juwan is our 14th and Shake would be our 15th. They can verbal as many as they want but only 14 can be signed. I am pretty sure. Early signing period is in November and many players like to sign at that time.

The way I understand the rule is that he could sign 13 new players every year. The athletes are on a one year renewable scholarship. If the coach decides to sign three new athletes, the team then has to decide which 13 to keep and then send three on their way.

Per our new Student Bill of Rights, they're four year scholarships.

Full disclosure, I haven't read the Bill of Rights, but my understanding is that the school will honor the scholarship. That doesn't mean it will be a basketball scholarship.

In addition, I really don't think the Bill Rights is worth much more than the paper it's written on. If a coach doesn't want a player, or has made it crystal clear that the player will almost never see the court, a guy isn't going to stay. At least it will be really rare for that to happen.

I was going to say the same thing.

Currently, Juwan would be the 13th as a signed commit with Shake being the 14th as a commit, unable to sign until someone transferred.

Not true. We go through this on every forum every year. We can sign more than one over. The oversign doesn't matter. Crean just has to say he has a plan and the Big Ten doesn't care. We have signed more than the 13 players on the roster. We just have to be back down to the limit by the time school starts. It's not a hard limit on the oversign.

I believe if memory serves me that we over signed by a couple before we knew Zeller and Oladipo were going pro. So yes Shake can sign.

Yes, Wayne pointed this out. I meant Juwan would be our 14th and Shake our 15th. Are you sure we can over sign by more than one?

You can sign up to 13 incoming freshman. Meaning you could sign an entirely new team as long as you say you have a plan. So juwan is our 1st and shake would be the 2nd.

A Shake Milton quote about IU:

"I like the fact it's a real basketball school and people there are passionate about basketball."

Shake--- you have hit the nail on the head!   :dancing: :dancer:

And you ain't seen nothing yet----just wait till you play in a packed Assembly Hall against a ranked team! :clapping: :yahoo:

1.7 per year. Right on average with the rest of the B1G

Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

As I pointed out then, 1.7 is not the average, and that was done right before etherington leaving which puts us at around 1.9 which is one of the worst in the big ten

Milton was made fully aware of the oversign/transfer situation by other staffs. Not sure it mattered to him

which indicates clearly that Crean/staff have a plan and it won't affect Shakes potential PT.
