(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU

What about a general "Last Night"? If you're going to be pushed towards a transfer, go to the NBA, or even graduate then you give a little speech about how you'll never forget the year you spent with the Hoosiers.

Another great idea. Indiana's Last Night. Then you could invite all the students who flunked out or were already on probation but just couldn't make those darn early noon classes. I forget how hard it was to be a student at IU. Those kegger parties at the scum apartments close to the football stadium; sorry can't remember the name of those but they were the absolute worst. But, what a party scene lol.

And no need for senior night this year since we have none. Unless you want to have one for the cheerleaders and pep band. Plus One of the highest transfer rates in the b1g . Certainly not the Indiana way. Facts get in the way sometimes don't they?

Actually it is the Indiana way.  Has been for the better part of a decade now.  Keep up old man!  :)

We could also make this a really special event and coordinate it with Kentucky since they have so many freshman leaving and we don't play them anymore. We keep the tradition alive. They send their freshman to the NBA and we send ours to Tenn St, Evansville, and Anderson University to further their basketball careers.

Fischer seems to be the only freshman here lately that has been a somewhat significant freshman transfer. Don't know if you realize it but we sent a freshman to the NBA last year….

Varsity Villas?

Yes, are they still a dump? The courtyards reminded me of some of the worst projects I have ever seen. I vividly remember a huge party there were some ballsy punk got caught trying to steal a keg tap and then got his butt kicked by 2/3 football players. I had some high school friends live there, but the parties were just too large and always out of control. I enjoyed our apartment parties more at Colonial Crest which were nicer than Varsity Villas. Our they still around?

Ha ha I try to keep up but with all these new offenses like the Harlem Globetrotters 3 man weave out top, it's difficult. Also, my first old man reference. The fact that I was at IU when we won our last championship really puts that into perspective.

Yes, I do. Can you tell me the last time a lottery pick was quoted as saying he could have done more in college? Typically, to get to that level they must have overachieved and left nothing on the floor. Sure seems like he had more to give. With that being said do you think if he was utilized more like he said, instead of staying home at 17-15 we should have been dancing with 20+ wins? Another question. Do you think if Fischer was utilized more early with Noah, those lonesome phone calls to his mom may have been fewer?

I actually agree with most of this. I share pretty similar thoughts.

However I remember live streaming 3 or so games of Vonleh when he was in HS, and I kept thinking, WHY doesn't that little PG give Noah the ball? Everything ran through that little PG just like it did at IU? Coincidence? He should have the ball every trip especially in HS, and there was 3 or 4 times down in a row he never got it. Part of the problem is he is a 3 in his head and we played him strictly like a 5. He has the body of a 4 or 5 but the mindset of a 3.

If he played 1 or 2 more years at IU, he would have been INCREDIBLE. Once he AND the coaching staff realized his true strengths.
Plus, he never got the calls Zeller did. They hacked him like crazy and he rarely got the calls.

I completely agree that Crean is not known for running offenses through bigs, but that didn't stop Cody Zeller from demanding the ball and making plays. Vonleh was passive without the ball. He is an extremely talented and hard working player, but I wanted to see more of a demanding attitude from him. He stood around waiting for the ball when he should have been using his superior conditioning to run circles around opposing big men. Regarding Fischer, I can't speak from first hand knowledge, but all information available indicates he truly just wanted to be closer to home. Obviously more playing time couldn't have hurt, but he was also battling that shoulder injury for a few weeks early in the season that limited his availability.

They were still there as of last year. It has been more than ten years since I have been in the Villas. I lived there one year. It was definitely party central, not only on the weekends but everyday of the week with the occasional couch or mattress burning at any giving time. My now wife came to visit one weekend and some drunken imbecile smashed her car in with a concrete block and discharged a fire extinguisher in it. He was still sitting in it the next morning. I had a lot of fun there but one year was more than enough for me and my grades. I did feel like I did my part to help the university become the #1 party school in the nation that year.

It's been officially renamed Stadium Crossing or something, but everyone keeps destroying the new sign and putting up Varsity Villa signs. Great place to party if you're looking to run from cops or get arrested.

I lived in the Villas and saw a kid get hit so hard his jaw was hanging off of his face. I was also there when an armed robbery happened at a party two rows down from me and a shot was fired through the ceiling. It's essentially Sophomore and Junior guys trying to throw parties for Freshman girls who don't know any better yet.

I think if the coaches would have thought going through Noah would've won them more games, they would've gone through him. Coming into IU Vonleh's biggest knock was that he didn't demand the ball enough. I think he would've benefitted from being fully devoted to playing for the team and staying another year. There are rumors out there that he sat out the last few games to protect his stock. Again, people have said "well of course, why would he? We weren't playing for anything". But to me that just reflects personality from the whole year. Vonleh got eaten ALIVE by double teams. He just honestly didn't know how to attack them or escape them at all. I loved the kid but even NBA scouts were basing everything off potential with him. He most likely doesn't end up playing a lot this year in the NBA. His summer league stats were pretty terrible. I really loved watching him play when he had his great moments. I think he would've benefitted from another year.
I'm getting tired of talking about Fischer haha. I think it would've been great to have both him and Vonleh were on the court together last year. I think a lot of people forget that Fischer was battling an injury most of his short career at IU. He just looked a bit out of it and behind on his conditioning. I think he would've been a great four year player for us and was upset to see him go. Maybe it was the competition, maybe he didn't get along with guys ( its come out that last years team had next to no unity), maybe he was homesick, maybe he didn't like the coaching staff/playing style, blah blah blah blah blah. Maybe one day we will know but ….HE'S GONE hahah
