(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA

Recommended Posts

Getting a little ahead of ourselves but I actually agree with Wayne except Hartman. I think he comes back and IU doesn't return one of Cujo, Green, Newkirk, Gelon...or Al doesn't come. Not based on info, just the way I see it

On Hartman coming back, is this a gut feeling from what IU has released or have you heard from someone that he's likely back? I assumed it was season-ending with how Crean had talked up until the stationary shooting comments. Seems awfully soon to be shooting if it's a season-ending injury, but I'm not a knee doctor and I've never had knee surgeries.

No info, was just my thought. A poster above has info and said he isn't likely to be back next year

Also Meyer said on Twitter IU has a legitimate shot and its not UCLA as a shoe in as some assume. As much as Meyer has insisted Wilkes wasn't coming here in the past that seems like him covering his tracks as Wilkes to IU seems more likely than he thought.

How can we not be the leaders at this point

Well shoot...THAT'S GOTTA BE GOOD NEWS!!!

Absolutely.  From everything I've ever read about him, he's got excellent character and I can't imagine him attending both events today when he's not planning on wearing candystripes.

He's ours!! Sorry if he wasn't coming here he wouldn't have came back one more time unless he really wants to troll IU!! Wilkes and Waters in a month span and Preston at HH this class could be the best yet from Crean, but also if we get all of them he's gonna have to get bashed in the offseason for Creaning which I think he's okay with when it comes to adding two 5 stars and a high 4.

Tremont too please

Well we're two over on scholarships, i think adding three more recruits might be a little too much.

But i wouldn't mind.. haha.

We can assume James, OG , and Tommy are NBA bound. We would need Collin and Grant/Priller to leave as well if we're going to add Kris and Billy as well.

CH might not be done for the year. And I think if we get Tremont one of our guards will transfer on their own.

From Osterman at the Indpls. Star -

North Central star Kris Wilkes pays yet another visit to Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana hosted an unexpected visitor Saturday: five-star 2017 North Central forward Kris Wilkes.

Wilkes turned up on the sideline at Memorial Stadium, before the Hoosiers' homecoming football game against Nebraska.

Probably IU coach Tom Crean's top target in the current senior class, Wilkes officially visited Bloomington just two weekends ago. He recently cut his list of schools down to a final three, which includes UCLA, Indiana and Illinois, and said he was aiming for a fall decision.

“I hear from (Indiana fans) all the time," Wilkes told IndyStar's Kyle Neddenriep. "But I have to decide where the best place is for me. Even if you don’t have as many fans, if that’s where you want to go, then that’s where you should go.”

Because he took his official visit earlier this month, Wilkes' trip to Bloomington on Saturday would have to be unofficial, meaning he would have paid his own way. It's unclear how far in advance his visit was planned.

He canceled planned official visits to UConn and Xavier, and has visited all three of his named finalists officially now.

“I’ll always have love for the Hoosiers," he told IndyStar. "I’ve been going down there since the fourth grade. When I went on that official visit, it showed me more. I got to see more of campus and see some of the new areas down there on campus. That was good. I’m used to just going down there for basketball and going home.”

IndyStar understands Wilkes attended IU's practice Saturday, a portion of which was televised on the Big Ten Network, as part of his visit.

Indiana currently has three players committed in 2017 – Georgia guard Al Durham, Philadelphia-area forward Clifton Moore and Chicago-area forward Justin Smith.

Wilkes is the No. 18 player in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is a leading candidate for IndyStar Mr. Basketball in 2017.
