(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA

Recommended Posts

Man with Wilkes next years team would be very good. After watching the practice that was on BTN I must say Juwan Morgan is our most improved player. OG is gone without a doubt!! He looked so confident out there, which is why Wilkes is the most important to me. Davis & Morgan leave me happy regardless w Moore coming in as well. I think TB still may come back too, so I wouldn't even think twice to say Wilkes over Preston. Newkirk & Rojo will be fine at point, but Waters would be welcomed greatly obviously. JBJ looked more explosive than I've seen him as well. I probably watched that practice 10 times already lol, but game play is a lot different so I'll settle down on Juwan as an NBA player, but that's where I'm leaning. Seriously he looked awesome.

Jeff Borzello at ESPN thinks UCLA in drivers seat and has the following article but I'm not an ESPN Insider so don't know exactly what he has to say.

Can UCLA hold off Indiana, Illinois for five-star forward Kris Wilkes?

ESPN list UCLA as the favorite today as well. Go to Bozich twitter to see link. I'm not an ESPN insider so I can't read full article. This recruitment has confused me quite a bit and will lead a lot of us disappointed it appears. I just don't get how UCLA is getting all these guys when their coach isn't even a sure thing to stay to coach them. Most UCLA boards even say Alford is putting together a good class for their next coach. I guess we will wait and see. Waters & Preston pressure needs turned up a bit now.

Nothing new really, mentions Wilkes would be a great fit alongside T.J. Leaf and Thomas Welsh in the front-court. Gave a Wilkes quote: "They tell me I can go play my position and I would make a great impact for them.” Article also mentions the Indiana connections with Alford and Schilling.

In comparison, the article pointed out that Wilkes would play in a small ball lineup at IU. Also that he attended the IU/Nebraska game this past weekend with who a friend is being recruited by IUFB.

If he doesn't come here, he did some serious trolling honestly. He is always sharing strictly IU stuff, has visited multiple times & to not come here would be a big blow. I won't call Crean out like others I think he did more than he should've w an in state kid. He really made him a priority. Sometimes it just doesn't work out the way we think it should and that's fine. Sucks, but it does happen.

That didn't mean he shouldn't have recruited him, but he spent the last few years going hard after him. A lot of time w in state kids and big programs it allows them to focus more on other kids and know that kid is only an hour or so away so it gives them easier access. It seems like this is what Wilkes wanted though. Mass confusion and to keep people guessing & sweating till the end.

Not even close. He WANTS to come to IU. But for a kid like him he has to make the decision based off of what's best for him and obviously Alford has somehow made up reasons that make Wilkes think that might be UCLA.
