Couple this with the CBS NIL payroll article,  Painter’s ego will be unreachable if he has a great season with this group.  Sadly, I won’t be surprised.  He’s pretty special.  And the home court advantage has grown to be top 2 in the league.

I think they are gonna shoot a lot of 3s.  Live and die by shooting.  They will likely be a little better version of what we put on the floor last season.

This is so weak. I usually like Rothstein ok, but apparently he defines “under the radar breakout players” as “highly rated well-known HS recruits who are just gonna play more this year.” C’mon, any idiot can do that.

We’ve talked about this before but it bears repeating: SLU is a really good job and Schertz can afford to be very picky with the next gig, though it’s probably fair to assume the next one is very possibly Michigan.

Not to be that guy, but is that real?  I'm not seeing much buzz about it on social media, the PUMA reference is odd (LSU is Nike school), and some of those quotes seem fake/over the top.

It is Will Wade though... so insane things are possible.

As far as I can tell it's real. Zach Smart, the author, has a credible history and the son plays on PUMA's AAU circuit.

I am not as plugged in as many of you and have to admit, I didn't even know that existed.

Mildly curious how that connects to Wade? As pointed out above, L$U is Nike.

The article doesn't elaborate on the details of the PUMA involvement. My own speculation...

PUMA obviously wants to sign future stars like all the other shoe companies. They're eager to ingratiate themselves with these players early, which is a big reason for starting their own AAU circuit.

Based on Alston's comment about money being accepted in a jumped-gun process, makes me think something along the lines of PUMA offering an advance bonus for committing to LSU and Wade telling PUMA he'd steer the kid to sign a shoe deal with them in return when he turns pro. All speculation.

That Will Wade would go all Fatal Attraction on a recruit is the least surprising news ever.

But, truthfully, my favorite thing in that piece is the author describing Alston’s game as “witty.” Never heard that one before and I kind of like it. Describing, say, a Hanner Perea’s game as “witless” is about as brutal as a description gets.

Can’t imagine there is a coach in CBB with Painter’s job security. Not even Hurley. He can literally name his retirement date.

Poor Hanner Perea. He had the body of a future NBA power forward but the touch and grace of a beluga whale.

And if he wanted to leave, could likely pick his team from spots that were open.

Hate Purdue, but Painter is the real deal.  Wished he had taken the Missouri job years ago.
