I've always maintained this was my primary area of concern even above TE or QB.  Ponds was always on an island alone with the best wideout.  Haines never worried.  It will be interesting how we address that this season.  But as you said, they have to get past the front 7 first and that's a task in and of itself.

It definitely allows Haines to get a little creative with pressure packages. But there's no replacing Ponds or Fischer. Those two were incredible football players with extremely high IQ.

This is good.  I hated those green mats.

Bad though... I see the same crappy field suites going up this year.  IU could easily fit larger suites there (e.g., double decker PGA Tour style one) and pull in hundreds of thousands more in revenue.  That space is so badly used, I can only hope the eventual stadium renovation rethinks the south endzone seating.  This is a minor "nerd alert" complaint though I'll admit vbg.

Hey guys going to the WKU(Still need 4 tickets if anybody is selling some) and NW Game.

Friend I am going with lives on south side of Bloomington. Should we just park at her place and then Uber?

You can -- see pick up drop off zone below b/t 11th and 12th.  If you're willing to walk a little further, there is plenty of parking around downtown Bloomington at their usual cheap meter rates ($1/hour).  It's ~30 min walk from downtown to the stadium.  There is a free parking garage (Henderson), though you need to get there early as it fills up.

Well stated.

The way to do this is to eat, drink, and be merry near Kirkwood and then walk to the game if your physicality allows. The Kroger plaza on the 45 bypass is a shorter walk, but you don't get the game/campus buzz with that walk.

Tailgating parking is a bit of an adventure, but if you don't want to park on a lawn it's an extremely fan-friendly town.

I got the Fee Lane Parking Garage for my parking pass. Anyone know how fast it fills up on game days?

I don’t.  But if your concern is the garage filling up, my understanding is a parking pass is a reserved spot in there.  They don’t oversell spots and turn people away.

IUFB sack leaders from last season.

  • Rolijah Hardy (LB): 8.0 sacks
  • Isaiah Jones (LB): 7.0 sacks
  • Tyrique Tucker (DL): 6.0 sacks
  • Stephen Daley (DL): 5.5 sacks
  • Mario Landino (DL): 5.0 sacks

The takeaway? Every single one of them is back. And Tobi is with us too - he had four sacks in only six games before he got injured.

Crazy stuff to even imagine.

Insane. Let's just hope the DBs don't downgrade because some of those sacks are coverage. Moore and Ponds were very special back there. If we can get consistency from them we might run it again. Coaching matters.

A defensive lineman that requires double-teaming = linebacker sacks.

Four defensive linemen (Mario, Tyrique, Tobi, Daley) that all merit a double team = incredible mismatches for guys like Mario or Kellan Wyatt, tons of sacks, linebackers that run untouched, and teams forced into max-protect, thereby making coverage that much easier.

Sources: The Big Ten voted this week to expand the league’s football travel rosters to 80 for league games. It goes up from 74. The reason is the aged-based eligibility rules, as there’s no longer redshirts so there’s more players who will have the opportunity to play.

Nice. That roster crunch can feel pretty real sometimes.

Should help us rest our key guys as we are blowing out Rutgers and Nebraska

Something I would like to do/try is to make watch parties at assembly hall the norm.

I think that’s the next route to building a fanbase and increasing revenue.

our stadium is too small for our alumni/fanbase but have this cheaper option of a place to go to be part of the community. tailgate with the fanbase then head to memorial stadium or assemble hall

Keep it small.  Keep the demand sky high. : /
