I looked back at last years Portal activity and Michigan had Mara a thin kid that had Baileys offensive rebound numbers and 9 starts in 2 years. He was lumped in with the rest of Cronins euro failures. Then there was Cadeau to replace Donaldson, didn't seem like much of an upgrade, and Morez who was am undersized public school 5 with a handful of starts his freshman year. He signed McKinney, who I thought was an undersized 3. He looked done. Then Yaxel. Then in the off-season it comes out he's playing all 3 bigs at once. I was a fan of Burnett but I didn't think that line-up was going to work. Mara wasn't strong enough to replicate Goldin. Where would Johnson fit in? Dusty can coach. He's set for the next 30 years.

Don’t get me wrong i think dusty is amazing coach and i don’t wanna take anything away from him but i think you’re massively underselling the roster. That was an extremely talented roster. Trey was a 5 star in one of the best freshman classes i can remember. Cadeau former 5 star trapped by hubert. Morez is one of the highest paid players in the country and i think a lot of people thought Mara would flourish away from Mick. I do give him a lot of credit for adapting from what he knows playing small to going 3 bigs. You need great coaching and great talent to win a title just like it’s always been

I hope DeVries took notes, because what Dusty put together could happen here. You have to have a plan and then go after the guys with the right qualities that you can plug into it! It doesn't always have to be the highest rated guy, you need shooters, but you also need rebounders, scrappy guys, and high character tough competitors! Other teams find these guys, we need to start or we will be middle of the pack for another decade!
