My biggest issue is finding new posts. The old version had a section at the top of new posts. Also, finding the first unread post in a thread seems incredibly difficult. Is there a trick to it or a shortcut of some kind?

If you click on the time last posted under the user name (e.g. 7 minutes under AZ Hoosier), that should take you to the last post.

I still have it. (If this is what you are referring to)  You can just click on the last page to get there.  Has the 5 latest topics that have been commented on.  I believe the last one had 10, so hopefully there is a way to increase that number.

As usual, when something that we use all the time gets updated, there's a learning curve for the "new way"... and this, too, shall pass.

I think that's the key, the list of topics/threads with new posts make this site very easy to use.

Getting the topics with new posts list from five to 10 or 15 would ideal imo.  In order to fit or condense more topics in that space, one line of the topic detail could be dropped (don't need who started the thread, when, and what forum, I don't think the old site had that detail).

Anyways, I'm not complaining, just supporting this suggestion.  I get this site needed some rebuilding and I'm thankful to IU41 and others who make it happen.

That said, if it's possible to increase the list of topics with recent posts from five to 10 or 15, that would be great. ;-)
