He was at the Illinois game -- his second visit to IU this year.  Grew up in Indy even though he's in Texas now.

The day after the Illinois game he announced he is committing October 4th.  I have no insider knowledge.  We are recruiting against the biggest/wealthiest programs here... but... we'll see.

Wow—that’s a hot post! That’s the number eight overall player and the number one defensive lineman in his class. And he’s about to pop for Indiana it would seem.

So excellent

Keep Haines around (he and Brewster’s dad roomed together at Ball State back in the day) and see what happens next year.

Thanks for the insight. I wasn't aware of this little nugget of information.

Ran across it on Xitter last night and couldn't find the tweet again, but it was a surprise to me too. Could be a big deal down the road if, for some reason, Haines doesn't move on.

Absolutely. I don't even want to think about Haines leaving either.

To file under "happy problem?"

Many of our current assistants will be moving up, and soon. And Haines is candidate #1.

Let’s see if Tech can keep Joey McGuire from Baylor (who he has a history with and coincidentally has more money than God) and Arkansas (his childhood favorite team, also rivals God in GDP) and re-assess next fall/winter. You never close the door on an early football commit.
