Love seeing IU continue to target qbs for the future.  GO HOOSIERS!

Sammy Jacobs from the Hoosier Huddle is hinting that this may be staff initiated and he doubts a '26 QB will come on board this late in the cycle.  He tacitly mentions this could be a positive sign that Cherry will join the QB room again, but again lots of guess work at this point so we'll see!

I think/hope we are going to become a destination for top 5ish transfer QBs every year. We’ve now absolutely nailed both Rourke and Mendoza. I think we can plan to see 1-2 developmental QBs in the room and a big swing every offseason for a high level quarterback with a lot of starts elsewhere under their belt.

....why stop what's been working so well? You know there are some highly talented/capable qb's sitting on teams with poor OL's/coaches who would love be IU's next Roark/Mendoza. I can't imagine that Alberto thinks he's a lock to start next year. It's just the nature of the business right now. He knows he will be coaced by the best coach in the nation, but will that be enough for him to take the reigns?......

Coach Cignetti is definitely going to give him every shot/opportunity to be THE one for next year. At this point, you can bet that he is being/will be contacted about a potential transfer qb who would love to help IU next year.

Based on Cig’s track record with QB’s, and Heismandoza, I’m guessing we will once again get a really good QB via the portal.

The unknown is will Littledoza stick around and/or will Cherry be able to play.

I'm guessing that we will have a really good quarterback, and that it could be Alberto Mendoza.

why would anyone come to IU as a hs recruit if they know the only QBs that get to start are those that have produced at other schools and transfer in?

I think the idea would be that if you can turn every QB you touch into a high level star, that reputation might make you desirable to talent that isn’t afraid of competition and thinks they can win the job.

If you turn three or four transfer QBs into draft picks and heisman candidates I would imagine top HS quarterbacks would start to take notice.

Agreed it “could” be Alberto. My total guess that it will be a transfer guy was based on thinking top QB’s will want to play for Cig and that Cig’s last 4 QB’s were transfers with starter experience.  That being said I have read that prior to those 4 transfers he had an all conference QB, Cole Johnson, that put in his time/years at JMU and eventually beat out transfers to win the job.

I think it’s great if Alberto is the guy for the job and maybe he will be.  We will see.

A Cignetti coached QB has earned All-Conference honors in the last four seasons (I'm assuming it'll be five seasons with The Nandolarian).  Cole Johnson, is the only QB that put his time in and is the only one named CFPA National Player of the Year.
