Stuhoo Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Here's a hot take: Public perception is aimed at turning our guy Fernando into the Taylor Swift of football. As in, the talented person that is universally loved and relatable, and never really steps in a pile of ****. If Nando is a plus impact NFL quarterback he's got potential to be one of the highest profile sports celebrities on the planet. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

He reached absolute legend status in such a short time. Go be great Fernando. He will never have to pay for Pizza X breadsticks again. Wishing him all the best. Him and his teammates have created generational memories for all of us. Quote

Maybe, but because of the NFL-level skills and the added oompf to his story, he is trending to be MUCH more. Also, (though Tebow has proven to be a great guy) there was less relatability to Tebow. Nando will have a beer and let the F word occasionally slip. And unlike Tebow he's portrayed as a rise from nothing underdog who led the Rocky-like champion, and with a great family backstory. Exhibit A? The world's single largest circulation tabloid, the Daily Mail has this: And this: on its cover page today. Quote

He looks to have gained quite a bit of weight in just his face and neck area in the time difference. Quote

Yeah…Tebow was a bonafide 5-star, #1 QB in the nation. ‘Nando wasn’t invited to walk on. Quote

Tebow was also exposed in the NFL. He was a great college QB, but he didn't have a skill set that translated to the NFL at all. He did have a very noisy base of "fans" who cheered him on and were angry if you pointed out any of the flaws of his game. Fernando has the skill set of a NFL QB just from the throws he can make and his mindset. Tebow had the mindset and toughness, but he just didn't have the skill set. The Jets tried to make him a TE because of his toughness which would have been interesting to see if it worked. The dude was built like a truck. Quote

One of the best college football players I've ever seen. Got super overexposed along the way with the NFL circus, but I've come back around on him. jermhoosierfan and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote

He led us to 5 more wins than our next most successful team. The other teams with guys who had success similar to Fernando have multiple guys in that ballpark. go iu bb 1 Quote

We’re the victims of every other school being moronic. Case in point - University of Oklahoma is “OU,” University of Nebraska is “NU.” I actually find it offensive to our university and program; not that everyone’s getting it wrong as much as they’re lumping us in there with schools that haven’t won a football NC in over 25 years. From a former 2-star recruit to a Big Ten champion, a Heisman Trophy winner, a Rose Bowl champion, a Peach Bowl champion and ... a NATIONAL CHAMPION! Great player. Great person. Continue to be great!
